But caring for a pet in Weyrdlets isn’t entirely straightforward. Each species of pet requires different food and snacks, you’ll need to pet and interact with them constantly, and don’t even get us started on entertaining them. Below, you’ll find everything you need to care for a Weyrdlet.
What Does Your Pet Need?
Just like with other pets, Weyrdlets require some prettystandard pet care, things that are parallel to actual pets' needs. Each need is tied to a different element of pet care in Weyrdlets.
How to Change This Need
Health
How energetic your pet is, which is impacted by its diet.
Increase:Feed your pet more healthy foods like fruit, and give it medicine if the need gets too low.
Happiness
How much attention and affection you’ve given your pet.
Change the cursor to the Pet preset and rub your pet, watching them explode with pink hearts as the meter rises.
Fullness
How much your pet has eaten recently, with each pet requiring different food and snacks.
Feed your pet something edible from your inventory. Fruit fills pets up more substantially than snacks, and each pet has their favorite of each.
Rub your Weyrdlet down with the bar of soap.
Fitness
How active your pet has been, which is impacted by their diet as well.
Increase:Feed your pet more fruit and have them play with toys.
Decrease:Feed your pet more snacks.
Bladder
How soon your pet will relieve themselves someplace around the homestead.
Wait for your pet to use the bathroom, then scoop it up.
Luck
How good your rewards will be when this pet digs.
Feeding your pets different foods impacts their luck in different ways. Snacks boost luck more than fruit does, at the expense of health. Your pets also receive better luck boosts when you feed them the fruit or snack they like specifically.
Your pet seems to relieve themselves somewhat randomly, so the Bladder need is a bit tough to plan to handle.
As you may have noticed in the table above, there are plenty ofneeds that impact one anotherwhen you work on one, such as how snacks give a better boost to your pets' Luck stat while simultaneously decreasing their Fitness stat.
This means you’ll need tostrike a balancein some way to keep your pet feeling its best. Just like in real life, you can’t live on junk food all the time, and neither can your Weyrdlet.

How To Check On Your Pets' Needs
There are a few ways to keep an eye on your pet in Weyrdlets, which is always a good idea, since they’ll usually tell you what they want! Right from the home screen in Weyrdlets, you’ll seethought bubblesoccasionally above your pet, with a few symbols shown depending on which need requires attention.

It’s thesecond optionfrom the top, the egg shape.Click your petto pull up a full look at their information, including the current state of their needs on the right side of the screen.
Each Pet Has Its Own Favorite Fruit And Snacks
If you check out the items for sale in Calcubot’s General Store, you’ll notice that the item descriptions for each edible item note that this food is one pet’s preferred food. Favorites are decided for your pets bythe speciesthey are, with each species preferring something over the other.
Your pets will gain Fullness and Luck from eating food no matter what, butfeeding a pet their favorite foods gives a better Luck boost. When a pet is feeling lucky, they’re more liable to find things in their digs!
