The first raid ever to debut inWorld of Warcraft, Molten Core, arrived with Classic’s Season of Discovery’s season four. Adventurers can level up to 60 and take on the game’s hardest challenges. Molten Core, deep beneath Blackrock Mountain, is where they can take on the villainous Firelord Ragnaros.

Befitting a raid of such danger and legend, Molten Core can be a bit tricky to get to. But if you wish to raid Ragnaros' stronghold on the mortal plane, you may find worthy rewards.

Where Molten Core Is

TheMolten Coreis a great magmatic cavern beneath the iconic volcano that isBlackrock Mountain. Suitably for its status as the lair of Ragnaros and his legions of fire elementals, Molten Core hastwo entrancesthat are bound to the fiery mountain it is ultimately a part of.

The first entranceis accessible to everyone and is found near the end of another instance, the capital of the dark iron dwarves, theBlackrock Depths dungeon.

The second entranceto the raid seems almost impossible to reach, as it requires a leap of faith into a pool of lava near theblood elf Lothos Riftwaker. This entrance requires a shortattunement quest given by Lothosbefore you may utilize it.

In order to get to both of these entrances, you must traipse across thechains suspending Forgewright’s Tombin the Molten Span of Blackrock Mountain. Following the lowest chain to its anchor on a building on the shore of the lava pool found there, is your course of action.

The Blackrock Depths Molten Core Entrance

The first, and most conventional, of the entrances to Molten Core lies deep within the sweltering halls of Blackrock Depths.

This physical hall into the raidlies across a bridge that crosses a lake of magma. To find this bridge, you simply need totake a right after leaving the Summoners' Tomb, where The Seven boss encounter is. If you have entered The Lyceum, you have gone too far.

As you must enter and defeat most of the bosses of Blackrock Depths, knowing how to enter the dungeon is useful information as well. Found beyond the building where Lothos Riftwaker dwells, the Grinding Quarry is the corridor which leads tothe Masonary, where theentrance to Blackrock Depthsis found.

The Lothos Riftwaker Molten Core Entrance

The second and more convoluted way to enter Ragnaros' lair lies withLothos Riftwaker, a blood elf who dwells in a house at the bottom of the Molten Span.

He can attune adventurers to the Molten Coreafter they complete a short quest for him. This quest is fittingly calledAttunement to the Core, and it simply requires you to fetch a Core Fragment for Lothos from the other entrance into Molten Core, the one found in Blackrock Depths.

After doing so, your character will be attuned to the Firelord’s raid, andyou can jump through the window found next to Lothoswhenever you wish to enter Molten Core, thus skipping the need to delve into Blackrock Depths to access it.

If you are familiar with post-Cataclysm World of Warcraft, you may know that you need tospeak with Lothos Riftwaker to be transported into Molten Core after completing his quest.

However, in the Classic version of the game, you must jump through the window to achieve the same effect. Talking to him does not give the transport option in this version of the game.
