In the bottom corner ofElden Ring’sShadow of the ErdtreeDLC, there’s a place where only dragons roam. At the mountain’s peak, a storm rages, mirroring the fury of its primary resident. Within the storm, drakes battle for primal supremacy, their shouts echoing off the lightning-struck crags.
Trying to capture all that in a single painting is a tall order, but whoever painted the Domain of Dragons has done their best to also include the forboding Scadutree. Getting to the right location will take some effort, but doing so will reward you with the power of a dragon.
Finding The Domain Of Dragons Painting In The Shadow Keep
To find theDomain of Dragons Painting, you must first have arrived at theShadow Keep’s main entranceand defeated theGolden Hippo boss enemy. If this is your first time at this section of the Shadow Keep, you’ll need to head through the western door as the eastern door is locked from the outside.
This also means fighting through a bunch of Mesmer’s soldiers and knights.Once you’ve reached the ramparts with a large set of stairs leading to the main plaza(and some vulgar militia), you may run down those stairs and open the shortcut so you won’t have to fight all those soldiers again.
If you have already defeated the Golden Hippo and explored this area, you’re able to just fast-travel to theMain Gate Plaza site of graceand head through theeastern door. Run past the vulgar militia,up the stairs, and thentake a right. There’s aladderalong the far side of the wall that will lead you down towards the water.
There’s a waterfall on your right.Behind the waterfall, you’ll find another ladder that heads toward the secret storeroom. At the back of the storeroom, you’ll find the Domain of Dragons painting.
Finding The Domain Of Dragons Painting Location
Getting to the location depicted in the Domain of Dragons painting is relatively simple so long as you’ve gained access to theJagged Peak area. You canfight the Jagged Peak Drakeor sneak past it if you haven’t been to this area yet.
If you have, fast-travel to theJagged Peak Mountainside site of graceand start headingsouthwest, up the jagged side of the mountain (Torrent can scale the mountain easily with his goat hooves). Once you reach thespirit spring, instead of using it to get to the higher ledge,use it to get to the lower ledgejust off to your right.
Don’t worry!Even though it’s a large fall, you won’t die so long as you land in the spot depicted in the video above.
Continue headingsouthwest on this ledgeand you’ll eventually finda spirit sitting on a ghostly chair. Look over his shoulder at the Scadutree, and it’ll disappear leaving behind your reward: the Rock Heart.
Domain Of Dragons Painting Reward: The Rock Heart
The Rock Heart is a very interesting item. By using it, youturn into a dragon/human hybrid(similar to theDragon Priestess Heart) that deals additional damage with certain Dragon spells.
You’ll have to remove all your clothing before you activate the Rock Heart. Once you do, you’llbecome a dragon until you die and respawn as a regular human. Use the Rock Heart again after your transformation to gain a20 percent damage buff to Dragon Communion Incantations.
TheRock Heartboosts Dragon Communion Incantations by 20 percent when used after transforming, while theDragon Priestess Heartboosts Dragon Cult Incantations by 20 percent. Besides the visual differences, the two itemswork functionally the same.
Although the Rock Heart does provide a small boost to damage resistance, lacking armor meansmost characters will be more vulnerable to damage in their dragon form. The upshot is you’ll have ahuge boost to your Dragon Communion Incantations, providing delightful build possibilities.
