Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrailis finally here, giving us lots to chew on in its massive fifth expansion, having us explore an entirely new continent, leading to many new trials and tribulations for our Warrior of Light and their companions… even if that means feeding starving civilians various corn-based dishes to get them back on track.
Yup, even amid crisis, our Warrior of Light is committed to helping the famished get their daily nutrition values by providing them tremendously prepared meals via the Cornservant, a tiny, sentient cob of corn that only we can see. Is it a bit odd? Sure. But when we can get this little one as our Minion, we don’t ask any questions!
How To Start The Corn Of Necessity Sidequest Chain
Before beginning the very longCorn of Necessityquest chain in Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail, to obtain theCornservant Minion,you must firstcomplete’The Rite of Succession’Main Scenario Quest(MSQ).
Upon doing that, head toward theCopperstonearea ofTuliyollaland look for the ‘Curious Corn’ NPC (X: 16.5, Y:12.9). Speak to them andacceptthe ‘Corn of Necessity’ sidequest.
After approaching the ‘Curious Corn,‘select any dialogue choiceto startle them, having them explain how you’re the only one who can see them.
From here,speak to them again to have them follow you,then head to the icons on your map/mini-map and talk with the famished civilians to have the Cornservant prepare them a meal. Aftergiving three people a corn-based dinner,head toTalonmarchandspeak to the Cornservantonce more to complete the quest and receive the following:
Corn of Necessity Rewards:
While theremaining quests in the chain have you do more or less the same thingas this quest, youmust progress through the MSQ to have them become available,and some won’t be available until way later into the story, as you willneed access to some of the late-game regions.
How To Obtain The Cornservant Minion In FFXIV: Dawntrail
Due to thequests being not all that involvedand largely reliant on your MSQ progress,the table below will provide all information on the remaining quests in the quest chain, showcasingeach region, the Cornservant’s location, and even the steps needed to complete the quest and the rewards.
Again,every questin this quest chain will have youspeak to the Cornservant, then a famished NPC, then to the Cornservant againto complete the quest,typically only giving you EXP and Turali Corn as a rewarduntil thefinal quest,where you will obtain theCornservant Minion!
Please note that the EXP payout per sidequest can vary depending on whether you have any passive EXP boosts active. It can be more or less than what is highlighted above, but it will generally be in the same area!
