How To Obtain A Backpack

Once you’vepicked your factionand done a few quests, you’ll be welcomed to a safe zone where you can meet different NPCs (and real players). You’ll have tolook for the NPC that lets you trade gearwithin your faction’s base. Once you have the needed materials (such as fabrics and metal parts), you can find backpacks categorized into different ranks: Picklock, Newbie, and Stalker.

The more you progress through the game, the higher-tier backpacks you unlock. The game’s menu will tell you this once you interact with the trader and browse through the available backpacks. This table has some of the important backpacks you can think of before deciding which one you should consider getting. While most of them simply improve the carry capacity, others can offer you a slight boost in stats.

If you’re doing an artifact run, consider a backpack that’s good in capacity as well as anomaly resistance. Additionally, no matter how good your backpack is,managing inventory is a bigger skill than simply crafting a better backpack. For instance, always prioritize essential items like medkits, bandages, radiation or anomaly protection, and so on.

If you’re in the process of getting a new backpack but currently struggling to safely store your items, there is an alternate solution you may opt for.Consider using stashes in surrounding zones. This way, you can store items you don’t immediately need. Rare materials and excess consumables are good examples of such items, and you can store them in stashes until you have a better solution (bigger backpack).

When choosing a backpack, consider your gameplay style. Sometimes, it’s better to compromise on inventory space for a boost in stats, such as the Hellboy Backpack which gives a stamina boost.

How To Use A Backpack

Once you’re done crafting a backpack, simply equip it by dragging it from your inventor to the Bags and Container slot. Keep in mind thatarmor compatibility matters a lotwhen choosing a backpack. Just check your armor’s description to determine which kind of backpack or container you can carry.

With certain armor designs, the backpack simply won’t be compatible. These blueprints aren’t going anywhere, so don’t worry about losing the opportunity to craft a certain backpack. you may always come back later. In addition to backpacks, there are items called containers that can also increase your carrying capacity.

Even though they improve the inventory space, they can reduce mobility while protecting youagainst certain artifacts or negative effects. On the other hand, backpacks don’t offer you that kind of protection. Choosing between the two will often depend on your needs and playstyle. Certain bonuses include stamina regeneration, radiation resistance, anomaly resistance, artifact capacity, and environmental resistance (safety from hazards like heat or cold).

Tips For Managing Backpack Space

If you’re playing in a group, consider dividing your loot if you think your current backpack will need to be empty for better loot during a quest. Every 30 minutes or so, do an inventory audit and check which items you’re carrying. It’s likely that you have extra items you’re not usingthat can be dropped, traded, or sold.

On that note, if you’re carrying an artifact, thenconsider using a container that protects you against its negative effects. This strategy allows you to benefit from the artifact’s positive attributions without having to worry about any physical limitations. You may have to sacrifice some inventory space for this, but it’s worth it.

Finally, alsoconsider upgrading backpacks that often align with your long-term goals. High-tier backpacks will require rare materials. Since certain backpacks are faction-specific, check for additional bonuses and rewards that suit your gameplay.
