Arriving in Scopely’sMonopoly Goa little later in the day than the other events that began a few hours ago, the Discovery Derby tournament is the game’s daily tournament running from2PM EST on August 8through2PM EST on August 9.
While it’s far from the most exciting event happening in Monopoly Go right now, with two other events happening in tandem, the Discovery Derby tournament is a foolproof way to earn extra pickaxes to use during the Dino Treasures event. A good chunk of your milestone rewards are pickaxes, so be sure to use them up wisely!
How To Play Discovery Derby
Hopefully you didn’t burn through too many of your extra dice rolls in City Racers this past week, since you’ll want a good number of dice rolls to help you earn points in the Discovery Derby daily tournament in Monopoly Go today! As alwayswith daily tournamentslike this, you’ll want to aim toland on the four Railroad tilesaround your current game board to begin one of the two mini-games that offer points during Discovery Derby.
As you roll, be on the lookout for the tan fossil tokens lying around various spots on your game board - landing on these tokens nets you points forthe Jurassic Journey eventat the center of your screen in Monopoly Go, too. Between the pickaxes forthe Dino Treasures eventand the tokens you’ll collect for the Jurassic Journey event, the Discovery Derby tournament is a really nice supplemental event!

That is, unless you rolleda higher dice multiplierto land on that Railroad tile! Rolling using a higher dice roll multiplier is the best way to multiply all your Discovery Derby points by the number on your multiplier - the higher multiplier you use, the more points you’ll earn from the same Shutdown or Bank Heist!
On its own, the list of rewards for Discovery Derby isn’t that stellar, with the highest value prize on each leaderboard of50 total playersis only a cash prize, a pretty good number of extra dice rolls, and twoblue sticker packs- not evena purple onetoday! Maybe that’s because so many of the prizes along the way are the pickaxe tokens you’ll need to progress through Dino Treasures, which offers a better spread of prizes.
Still, along the way, as you climb up the leaderboard earning points in Discovery Derby from Monopoly Go, you’ll find yourself earning a variety of cool prizes even outside the pickaxes. These include the usual smattering of things like bonus sticker packs (in case the City Racers event didn’t finish outyour Monopoly Games albums),bonus cash payouts,extra dice rolls, and more.

You can do this by upgrading buildings on your board, moving between new boards, and even landing on completed monopolies as you roll your game token around the board itself. The higher your net worth, the more you’ll net in these Discovery Derby reward milestones.
