Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2has a small handful of boss encounters in its campaign and PvE multiplayer content. One of the first bosses you’ll face is the Lictor, a powerful Tyranid that stalks its prey from the shadows before leaping into the fray. It hits incredibly hard and is equally tough to track in the thick of combat.
Fortunately, this enemy is fairly easy to counter once you get comfortable with parrying and dodging enemy attacks. In this short guide, we cover how to defeat the Lictor boss in Space Marine 2’s campaign mission, and we give some tips on fighting Lictors in PvE Operations.
How To Defeat The Lictor Boss In Severance
Halfway through the Severance mission, Titus and his fireteam will be ambushed by aLictor.Before you start the fight, grab theBolt Carbinejust outside the arena.You’ll also want to stock up on all of your ammo. If you’re out of grenades, you’re able to find some Krak Grenades scattered around the arena. Be sure to grab them.
TheLictoris a boss who useshit-and-run tacticsto kill you. At the start of the fight, the Lictor willteleport to five different locations around the arena before it pounces on you.It hangs off the walls of the arena, usually the tree branches nearby.Keep an ear out for a low-pitch grumble noise.It’s easier to track the Lictor through sound than visuals.
Your AI teammates will stare at the Lictor once it appears. Pay attention to where they’re looking.
If you can damage theLictorenough before it teleports five times, it’ll fall off the wall and be staggered for a few seconds, giving you a short DPS window.If you can’t stun the Lictor, it’ll pounce on you after the fifth teleport.This is an unstoppable attack, so you’ll want to dodge the second you see the visual queue (a red circle). Failing that, and you’ll be pinned down and forced to perform a quick-time event to escape.
Once the Lictor is on the ground, it’s time to duel.Most of the Lictor’s attacks can be parriedat this point.It’ll usually start with a dash and parryable attack, followed by an unblockable pounce.A perfect parry and/or dodge will let you gun strike the Lictor, stunning it for a few seconds.Use your melee weapon or a nearby Krak Grenade to chunk the Lictor’s HP.
Every quarter of the Lictor’s HP you remove will spawn Tyranid reinforcements, most of which will be Hormogaunts. Look for the larger Tyranid Warrior of the group and execute them. This will kill every nearby Hormogaunt. The rest of the fight plays out the same. Parry or dodge the Lictor, perform a gun strike, then deal as much damage as possible.
How To Defeat Lictors In Multiplayer
Lictors are significantly easier to fight in PvE Operations since they have significantly less HP, although they’re still a dangerous foe if your team is caught by surprise.If a new enemy wave is spawning, there’s a good chance a Lictor will appear.
Dealing with Lictors is much the same as in the campaign.Wait for the Lictor to perform a parryable attack, deflect the attack, then perform a gun strike.This gives you a short window to melee or shoot the Lictor. If you have a Krak Grenade or Melta Bomb, even better. If your entire squad focuses fire on the Lictor, you can make it vulnerable to a finisher in a couple of seconds; they’re surprisingly frail.
