The Feat of the Brotherhood is a level 95 Main Scenario Quest inFinal Fantasy 14: Dawntrail. The final test in Wuk Lamat’s rite of succession is here, and you and your allies will need to work together to help her pass it.
This quest tasks you with defeating a shade of the current Dawnservant and Wuk Lamat’s adoptive father, Gulool Ja Ja. Here’s everything you need to know about completing this quest, including how to beat Gulool Ja Ja’s Glory.

‘The Feat Of The Brotherhood’ Main Scenario Quest Walkthrough
This quest begins after finishing the level 95 quest ‘Mamook Speaks’ by speaking toWuk LamatinYak T’el (X:21.1, Y:21.5). After speaking to Erenville and then Wuk Lamat, you’ll have to enter asolo Dutyto complete the final trial of the rite of succession.
If you’re having trouble making it through this solo Duty,don’t be ashamed to lower the difficulty. you may lower it toEasyor evenVery Easyif you fail it, which will grant you avery strong Echo buff.

How To Beat Gulool Ja Ja’s Glory
This fight has similar mechanics to the solo instance Duty in the MSQ’A Father First', where you fight the real Gulool Ja Ja in a duel. That said, there are definitely new mechanics to watch out for here, which we’ll cover below.
Roaring Star
AoE
Deals damage to all party members and summonstwo sets of two flame orbsonadjacent sides of the arena. These orbs will then fire across the length of the arena, dealing damage in a line AoE. Watch where both line AoEs will appear and move to the safe quadrant of the arena to avoid this attack.
Coiled Strike
This attack deals damage intwo wide cone AoEs, with two safe spots that depend on the color of the blades.
Celestial Flame
Summonsthree sets of three flame bladesin lines around the arena that will thenexplode in the order they are summoned in. Stand in the unsafe area of the second or third blades, then quickly move into the safe area created when the previous set of blades explodes.
Dual Pyres
Gulool Ja Ja will attackone half of the arena, andthen the other half. The order is indicated by thenumber of markers above his blades. For example, if his left blade has a “one” marker above it, he will attack the left side of the arena first.
Immediately after,two sets of intersecting line AoEswill appear. Avoid the first by standing in the unsafe area of the second set, then move into the newly created safe area to avoid the second set.

Steelfold Strike
Line AoE/Circle AoE
Gulool Ja Ja willstrike the arena two timesin alarge cross AoE, whilesmaller circle AoEsexplode around the arena at random. The line AoEs are indicated by aglowing white cross.
Outer Wake
Ring AoE
Alarge ring AoEwith asafe spot directly under the boss. Quickly move here afterSteelfold Striketo avoid taking damage.
Fallen Star
AoE Markers
Immediately afterOuter Wake, all players will be marked with anAoE Marker. Quicklyspread outto avoid overlapping these.
Lay of the Sun
Consecutive Stack Marker
Wuk Lamat will marked with aStack Marker. Group up with her to split the damage of the incoming attack, andstay grouped until the full attack is finished.
Oathbind
Summon/AoE
Gulool Ja Ja willtrap four party members in Oaths of Fire, preventing them from moving or attacking. Then, he will jump to one side of the arena and begin long-castingNoble Traildown the center of the arena. With the help ofKoana’s Limit Break, quicklydestroy the Oaths of Fireto free these party members thenmove out of the way of Noble Trail.
Battle Breaker
Scripted AoE
Gulool Ja Ja will becomeuntargetable, combine his blades, then strike the arena repeatedly with damage. Luckily,Wuk Lamat will protect your party. Watch the cutscene, and then the battle will resume.
Gulool Ja Ja’s Glory will repeat these attacks until it is defeated. After you’ve defeated the boss and claimed the final keystone, speak with Wuk Lamat a few more times to complete the rest of this quest. Now, it’s time to return to find the city of gold!
