Fuban is the final boss you face off against in the Kingdom of Sahali section ofBlack Myth: Wukong. He is the culmination of the second chapter’s longest optional quest that bounces you all over the desert. He is also a massive beetle that will smash you to bits.
This guide is going to focus on the ‘smash you to bits’ aspect of the encounter. I’ll identify his attack patterns, and help you avoid his most powerful moves. With this guide’s assistance, I’m confident that you will bury this beetle in the sand where he came from. Permanently this time.

Preparations For Fuban
You won’t need to come equipped with anything special in order to beat Fuban. There is no elemental weakness for you to take advantage of or anything. However, there is one thing you will want to take into consideration: Fuban is quite resilient. So, whatever you may do to hit harder will be helpful. Obviously, that means building the most powerful weapon you can, butI’d also recommend bringing a bunch ofTiger Subduing Pellets. These will help you dish out more damage and speed this encounter along.
It is worth mentioning that if you take outBlack Loongbefore heading to the Kingdom of Sahali, you should be able to construct theLoongwreathe Staff. Having a weapon as powerful as that one will go a long way toward finishing this encounter sooner rather than later.

Finally, since Fuban hits so incredibly hard, mix your healing flask to heal as much HP as possible. When Fuban nudges you, you may lose half of your health. So, just make sure your flask is geared towards healing.
Fuban’s Attacks
We probably don’t have to tell you this if you have a working pair of eyes, but Fuban ismassive. Most of his attacks are slow, but they cover a substantial amount of ground, and deal a tremendous amount of damage if they hit you.
Thankfully, Fuban doesn’t really have a wide assortment of attacks. When you are up close, you’ll deal with Fuban’s stomps, his swiping attacks, and his headbutts. When he is tunneling under the ground, he will either attempt to spear you with his horn while underneath you, or he will pop out of the sand in an attempt to land on top of you and crush you under his huge body.

Once you get him to half health, Fuban will start performing two additional attacks:a lunging attack where he will leap into the air and come crashing down on top of you, and an attack where he will stand straight up before intentionally flopping forward. You aren’t likely going to be able to outrun these attacks, as Fuban is so massive, but like his other attacks, these moves are pretty slow, so youshouldbe able to time them easily enough and dodge them.
Counter
Wide Swipe
Fuban will take a wide, horizontal swipe at you. This is always followed by a second wide swipe on the way back.
Dodge it. It is slow.
Stomp Attack
As Fuban moves, every time they put their hand down it will act as a stomp of sorts. This is all quite slow, but it does a tremendous amount of damage.
Horn Joust
Fuban will bury their head in the ground before raising it in an attempt to gore you with their horn.
When Fuban lowers their head into the ground, immediately run to the side.

Tunneling Joust
With this attack, Fuban will tunnel into the sand, then attempt to spear you with its horn from under your feet from a great distance.
Wait for Fuban to get close, then dodge to the side the moment before he collides with you.

Tunneling Leap
This attack is another one that starts with him approaching from under the ground, however, before he reaches where you are, he will leap out of the ground, becoming airborne, and slamming down on top of you.
Wait for the moment before Fuban hits the ground and then dodge. Thankfully, he is even slow when traveling through the air.

Lunging Attack
Fuban will only use his attack during the second phase of the attack. It is a lot like his tunneling leap, but he does it without tunneling first.
Like the other lunging attack, you will want to dodge the moment before he collides with you.
Back Thrash
Once he has been heavily damaged, Fuban will start flopping onto his back and thrashing around before rolling over.
You will be able to dish out damage while Fuban is thrashing about, but once he rolls over, you will get crushed. So, look for that and dash away once he starts to roll over.
How To Beat Fuban
Defeating Fuban is simply a matter of staying on top of him and being keenly aware of his attacks. You don’t want to get sloppy here, as a stray blow can take half of your health. So, the first rule of engagement is not to get greedy. If you see a limb coming your way, your first priority is dodging it.
Next, always dodge to the side. The majority of Fuban’s attacks are pretty linear, so, dodge left or right, not backward.Naturally, when he is swiping at you with his massive limbs, you will want him to dodge into them, which will take you past them.
Make sure to stay on top of your healing. You can’t be at a third of your health when fighting Fuban.
During the second phase of the fight, you will be joined by the Yellow Wing Monk. Let him distract Fuban, and charge up hard-hitting attacks. While Fuban does get a few extra moves during this phase, having a companion fight alongside you absolutely makes this portion of the fight easier than the first.
Just keep on him, and with the help of the sage, you will take him down in no time!
Rewards For Defeating Fuban
Your reward for defeating Fuban will be theWind Tamervessel and theSky-Piercing Horn. The game will automatically force you to leave the Kingdom of Sahali, but you should head back again and pick through the desert, as there are other goodies to be found (including aMind Core).
