One of the largest time sinks inThe First Descendantis creating an endgame build for your favorite weapon or Descendant. This process doesn’t stop when you reach Proficiency 40. You’ll need to install Crystallization Catalysts to give your items additional mod socket types. These symbols cut the cost of matching mods in half, giving you more space to install stronger, more expensive mods.
Of course, getting your hands on this item can prove challenging when starting out. The good news is that Crystallization Catalysts are fairly easy to craft. Every relevant resource and blueprint drop source is easy to farm, provided you have the right materials. Use the farms we showcase in this guide; you’ll have a stockpile of catalysts in no time.

How To Craft Crystallization Catalysts
Crystallization Catalysts require aCrystallization Catalyst Blueprintand a handful of uncommon resources found in various patrol zones. The item itself is crafted at Anais in Albion, located on the west wing of town.
Each Crystallization Catalyst you create will need the following materials:
Crafting a Crystallization Catalyst takes over seven hours to craft and costs 187,500 Gold.
Sterile Land [Hard] - Dungeon monsters

Echo Swamp [Hard] - Recon mission monsters

Where To Find Crystallization Catalyst Blueprints
Crystallization Catalysts are an uncommon reward found inmost Amorphous Materialsin the game, although their drop rates vary slightly based on material rarity.Rare (purple) materials have a 15% drop rate, while Ultimate (gold) materials have a 20% drop rate. Both drop rate values areunaffected by Shape Stabilizers—you should save those for rarer drops like Ultimate Descendant parts.
The most efficient source of Crystallization Catalysts BPs isAmorphous Material 56, which drops from The Magister dungeon found in Kingston. You’ll need to clear the dungeon on Hard difficulty to get the pattern to drop. Each clear has a guaranteed chance of dropping at least one pattern, usually two if you activate the kill score modifiers. The dungeon takes four minutes to clear with a good Bunny build, making it a highly efficient dungeon farm.

Even better, this Amorphous Material is cracked open by slaying[Hard] Executioner, the first Void Intercept colossus you’ll fight on Hard difficulty. A halfway decent weapon build will crush this fight in a few minutes. If you don’t get a BP, farm the Kingston dungeon a few more times and try again.
Normal Difficulty Alternative
If you don’t mind a slightly lower drop chance (15%), you’re able to farm the Slumber Valley dungeon on Normal difficulty. The Amorphous Material that drops can be cleared on [Normal] Grave Walker, which can be slain in a few seconds.
If you don’t have endgame builds yet, this might prove faster.

Murky Energy Residue Farm
Murky Energy Residue drops from Elite monsters found inSterile Land dungeons. It can drop on both Normal and Hard difficulties, although we suggest farming on Hard difficulty since you’ll get rarer Amorphous Materials in the process. The best dungeon to farm is The Laboratory, located in the left corner of Classified Area.
Elite enemies will spawn throughout the dungeon, one of which is guaranteed to spawn in the first encounter. You can kill the enemy and restart the mission or clear the entire mission as usual. Resetting is more efficient for raw material farming, but we suggest farming the whole thing; you’ll get Amorphous Materials for your trouble.

Macromolecule Biogel Farm
Macromolecule Biogel is an uncommon resource that drops from Elite monsters found inEcho Swamp Recon missions on Hard difficulty. One Elite always spawns once the generators are either hacked or destroyed. The drop chance isn’t guaranteed, but the monsters drop roughly 8-14 Macromolecules per drop.
The best strategy here is tojuggle between both Echo Swamp Recon missions. You’ll find one in Muskeg Swamp and another in Derelict Covert.Alternate between both Recon missions, fast-traveling to the other location with each clear. If the timer isn’t reset when you arrive, fast travel elsewhere and return. You’ll also want to set your game to private to ensure you enter a new instance.

Recon Mission Bonus Loot
You canhack the terminals as Sharenwhile in Active Camouflage, which will give you a chance of earning a bonus Amorphous Material when the mission ends.
Mixed Energy Residue Farm
Mixed Energy Residue drops fromEncrypted Vaults in Anga Desert. Before you’re able to farm for this resource, you’ll first need Code Analyzers. This is a consumable item that rarely drops from slain monsters. Any good XP or Gold farming spot is also the ideal place to get these codes. Anticipated Ambush Point in Sterile Lands is a good place to find Code Analyzers.
We suggest creating Enzo before you start farming Encrypted Vaults. His passive extends your vault hacking duration and greatly improves your Encrypted Vault rewards.

Once you have some Code Analyzers, travel to the Miragestone Tactical Transporter in Agna Desert. This location has three Encrypted Vaults in close proximity:
If you hear a high-pitched ping noise when you use Ecive (your scanning tool), an Encrypted Vault is in that location. The vault will look like a floating metal statue. Insert the Code Analyzer and complete the minigame to claim your rewards.Failing the minigame will consume your Code Analyzer, so be quick. Enzo makes these much easier if you’re struggling to beat the minigame.

Farming Alternative
If you have Encrypted Vaults, every monster in Agna Desert has a small chance of dropping Mixed Energy Residue. Farm the Commanding Ground mission for easy Elite kills.
This farm isn’t as efficient as opening vaults, but it can be done with any character and doesn’t require any Code Analyzers.

Advanced Neural Circuit Farm
Advanced Neural Circuits are the easiest to farm. On Hard difficulty, head to White-Night Gulch and boot up the Border Line of Truth missionin The Mountaintops region. This will spawn back-to-back enemies until an Elite boss eventually spawns. Each Elite you kill has a small chance of dropping Advanced Neural Circuits.Repeat the mission until you have enough. We suggest farming as Bunny for a breezy farm.
How To Use Crystallization Catalysts
Now that you’ve crafted a Crystallization Catalyst, it’s time to put it to use.Enter the modding menu for any Descendant or weapon, select “Module Additional Settings,” then “Assign Module Socket Type.“This will bring up a menu where you can imprint a new mod symbol onto a mod socket. You can do this for any mod slot, even those with installed symbols. If that’s the case, the previous symbol will be overridden.
You may only use Crystallization Catalysts on weapons or Descendants at Proficiency 40. Doing so will reset the item’s Proficiency Rank and consume the Crystallization Catalyst.
