Pokemon Gocontinues to host different Team Go Rocket-themed events, centered around different Shadow Pokemon and other bonuses pertaining to Team Go Rocket. This event, theAdventure Week: Taken Over Event, will be no different, presenting players with both new and returning event bonuses and features.
This will be a five-day event, overlapping withthis year’s Adventure Week Event, taking place fromThursday, June 27, 2025, at 12am local time to Monday, July 14, 2025, at 11:59pm local time.Read on to learn all details about the Adventure Week: Taken Over Event, including information on both event features and updates to Team Go Rocket and Shadow Pokemon.

Event Bonuses
There will betwo differentbonuses available to all players who log in and play Pokemon Go during the Adventure Week: Taken Over Event. Both of these bonuses have to do with Team Go Rocket and Shadow Pokemon, following the theme of this event.
First, you willencounter Team Go Rocket members more frequently at both PokeStops and in Team Go Rocket Balloons. This will allow you to complete several Team Go Rocket battles during this event, giving you the opportunity to catch countless Shadow Pokemon.

For the second event bonus, you will be able touse the Charged TM itemon Shadow Pokemon during this event, allowing you to replace their Charged Attack Frustration. You will only have until the end of this event to do this, so make sure you are doing this with your Shadow Pokemon before it concludes.
Shadow Pokemon are typically very strong, but are held back by the Charged Attack Frustration.

For this reason, ensure to use Charged TMs on any Shadow Pokemon that still have this attack.
Event Shadow Raids
During the Adventure Week: Taken Over Event, there will beseveral Shadow Pokemon appearing in different Shadow Raids, including One-Star, Three-Star, and even Five-Star Shadow Raids. Below you may find each of these Shadow Pokemon with the specific type of Shadow Raid that they will be defending.
Shadow Raidscan only be completed in-person,disabling the use of Remote Raid Passes.

Because of this, ensure to group up with other players to complete these Shadow Raids.
Shadow Lugia
Five-Star
Shadow Lugiawill only be appearing in Five-Star Shadow Raids fromSaturday, July 14, 2025, to Sunday, July 18, 2025.
This will be replacingShadow Suicune, another Five-Star Shadow Raid Pokemon available this month.

Event Research
New Special Research Story
There will be abrand-new Special Research Storyreleased with the Adventure Week: Taken Over Event, available to claim untilSeptember 3, 2024, at 9:59 am local time. This Special Research Story will be centered around Team Go Rocket, requiring you to defeat different Grunts and Leaders in exchange for rewards.
This Special Research Story will conclude with abattle with Giovanni,the leader of Team Go Rocket. Defeat Giovanni and his team of Shadow Pokemon through this Special Research to obtainShadow Cresselia, a brand-new Shadow Pokemon in Pokemon Go.
Field Research Tasks
Claim differentEvent Field Research Tasksduring the Adventure Week: Taken Over Event by visiting different PokeStops and spinning their Photo Discs. Completing these Event Field Research Tasks will reward you with one of the following in-game rewards:
Shadow Pokemon Updates
There will also be Shadow Pokemon updates coming with the Adventure Week: Taken Over Event, changes that will extend past the conclusion of this event. Like past Team Go Rocket Takeover events, this includes achange in the Shadow Pokemon that you encounter through Team Go Rocket Grunt battles.
Additionally, the Team Go Rocket Leaders,Sierra, Cliff, and Arlo, will be using new Shadow Pokemonstarting with this event. Following the successful completion of each Team Go Rocket Leader battle, you will have the chance to catch a specific Shadow Pokemon, provided for you below.
Lileep
Event Pokemon Showcases
There will be differentevent-themed Pokemon Showcasesappearing during the Adventure Week: Taken Over Event, taking place at different PokeStops found in the game. These Pokemon Showcases will require you to enter specific Pokemon,most likely Shadow Pokemonin the case of this event, rewarding you depending on how well your Pokemon does in the competition.
With Pokemon Showcases giving the most points for especially large Pokemon, make sure tohold onto different Shadow Pokemon that are XL or XXL. This will ensure that you always have a viable Pokemon to enter into these Showcases, giving you plenty of opportunities to earn in-game rewards.
