Blending more traditional action game features with a Tower Defence twist all in a game lovingly and undeniably Japanese in its cultural expression,Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddessis a game that is unlike most other games, and somehow manages to make those two genres blend together beautifully.
One of its earlier missions, Okumiyama Passage, can feel like the first major difficulty jump in the game, offering multiple paths, many more defilements to purge, and some truly devastating enemies if you don’t keep them in check. But have no fears, for we are here to guide you through the night like Soh to Yoshiro.

Recommended Set-Up For Soh And The Villagers
Villager Set-Up
Within Okumiyama Passage, there will beseven Villagers for you to findin total spread across both sections of the level. None of them are hidden in too difficult a location and you’ll likely come across all of them as you search for the defilements.
Once you have all seven, you’ll want to give them the following roles -

With those roles, you should be able to coast through the level with relative ease. As the Villagers are split across both sections of the mission, prioritise the Woodcutter, Archer, Sumo, and Asceticin that order. The Thief is helpful for digging up treasure, but theyserve no benefit at night.
In regards to contraptions for the Carpenter, focusing on those closest to the Torii gateis important to stop enemies early on, though keep in mind where Yoshiro will be at the end of the day, as you’ll want toprioritise defences around her.

One of the optional objectives for this mission to berepair three or fewer contraptions, so only repair those you think you’ll absolutely need.
Don’t forget toupgrade your Roles with the Musubiyou’ve acquired so far as well. A powered-up Role is a Role that can defend itself during battle.

Soh Set-Up
At this point, you will still be quite early in the game, so options on how to customise Soh will be fairly limited. You can stillmake some impactful choiceshere though that can slightly ease any troubles you’re having.
The table below has some recommendations. All of these items areacquirable prior to Okumiyama Passage, so feel free to replay earlier levels if you need them.

Tsuba Guard
Tenku’s Wings
Launches Soh from where they’re standing to landright beside Yoshiro. Deals damage both on takeoff and landing.
Demon Chime
Makes a sound and flashes on-screen when you arenear defilement.
you may feel free to leave out theDemon Chimeif you’re not having issues finding the various defilements, though consider it if you’re struggling as it can be quite helpful.

Tenku’s Wings is a great Tsuba Guard to have as itrecharges quite quickly. The damage it deals isn’t phenomenal, but being able to return to Yoshiro’s side at a moment’s notice can be a blessing when she gets surrounded.
A message will appear on-screenwhen Yoshiro is being damagedor has enemies near her, as well as her crying out. This is a great time to use Tenku’s Wings.

Tips For Completing Okumiyama Passage
General Tips
First and foremost in this mission, you want tocarve the Spirit Path before you do anything else. Getting Yoshiro moving is essential as you don’t want her standing idle while the sun goes down. You don’t have to complete the path immediately, but enough to keep Yoshiro busy while you explore.
Keep an eye on how far Yoshiro will be moving as well. Her silhouette will bedisplayed in whiteif she won’t reach her destination before nightfall, and you can ask her to stop at any time by interacting with her.
Corrupted animals in the area will alsodrop Rationsto heal with when you defeat them, so make sure to stock up while the sun is out.
There are Spirit Wards in both sections of the mission that will damage any enemy that enters themso long as Yoshiro is standing on them. Make sure to ask her to stop on top of one if that’s where she would be safest.
One of the optional objectives for this mission is todefeat ten enemiesusing the Spirit Ward, which rewards you with theDouble-Sided Effigy.
First Section Tips
The first section of Okumiyama Passage is completely linear, which lets you plan your defences around Yoshiro much easier. ensure toguide Yoshiro to the Spirit Ward immediately, as she has just enough time on the first day to reach it.
All your defences should be focused around the Spirit Ward. Put anArcher on the tower, and keep aSumo near to the edge of the Spirit Wardto attract enemies. A Woodcutter should be placednear the smaller Torii gateto the north to keep those enemies at bay.
The Spirit Ward will collapseafter it has dealt a certain amount of damage, so attempt to defeat as many enemies as possible before they reach the gate.
Second Section Tips
Upon entering the second section of Okumiyama Passage, the path will split in two.The left features more contraptions to repairand more easily defendable access points, while theright has more contraptions already repairedbut more points that need to be defended.
The choice to go depends on what you’re hoping for.The left route has a Spirit Ward, needed for one of the optional objectives, but very few contraptions are in working order, of which you need to repair very few for another optional objective. If you don’t care for the optional objectives, take the left path.
Optional objectives are savedbetween missions, so you can complete one at a time if that’s easier for you.
Once you hit the night in the second section, a new enemy will be introduced -Hozukime. This enemy does not attack you until it’s reached the end of its life. You see, the Hozukime explodes when threatened, turning red and indicating an area of effectbefore detonating. If this reaches Yoshiro, it will deal massive damage.
Should you manage to defeat it yourself, it will still explode, except it willdamage its allies insteadof yours. Use this to your advantage to take out waves of enemies all at once.
The final optional objective for this mission is todefeat ten Seethe with Hozukime explosions. You can evenhit them after defeatto send them in another direction to detonate.
With all those tips under your belt, you should have Okumiyama Passage complete in no time, optional objectives and all. You may now continue your journey down Mt. Kafuku.
