WhileKunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddessmay not be the longest game out there, it’s incredibly confident with what it achieves in that period. It’s never afraid to introduce new ideas that exist only for a mission, never to appear again. It always keeps you guessing.

This is especially true of the Korai Valley mission. While you’ve had a mission on the water before with Yuminari Lake, this one ups the ante significantly, introducing even more boats and a storm into the mix. Don’t worry though, because we are here to guide you through the night and into the glorious dawn.

Villager Set-Up

In the Korai Valley mission, you will have a total ofeight Villagers to assist you. Thankfully, they are all found before having to head out on the boat at night, so you have ample time to purify them and set them up in their new Roles.

Like Yuminari Lake earlier in the game, you’ll want your Villagers tostay in their placeson the boat for the whole night, so planning their Roles in advance is essential. Here’s what we would recommend.

Show looking at a Hirafugai approach the boats of Korai Valley in Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess.

With Soh running to any of the boats that get overwhelmed, this team of Villagers should bemostly self-sufficient, and ideally the Sumo and Ascetic won’t even be necessary.

Your Marksman and Archer should beput at opposite endsto aim at faraway enemies, and your Woodcutter and Spearman on the connecting boats tostop enemies reaching Yoshiro. The Ascetic and Sumo should be able to handle anyothers that slip through.

The Shaman is the one unit that should not be stationary. Instead, they should bedeployed near any unit that is taking too much damageand moved around as needed.

Make sure to top-up the Shaman with a ration if necessary asthey cannot heal themselves.

Soh Set-Up

At this point in the game, you should have plenty of Mazo Talismans and Tsuba Guards for Soh to choose from, as well as a healthy amount of abilities. In Korai Valley, Soh will mostly beplaying damage controlrather than being at the forefront of the action themselves.

The build we have recommended below is built around Soh,keeping the Villagers alive, and boosting their own capabilities.

Since you do not have to carve a Spirit Path during this mission, Sacred Tamagushi can be a great way ofsupplementing Soh’s lost strengthfrom the Happiness and Anger Mazo Talisman.

One of the mission’s optional objectives is todefeat 15 Hirafugai before they reach the boats, and Archery makes this much easier. This grants you theSkanda’s AgilityMazo Talisman.

Crow-Billed Tenguis a great help here as well since it gives you a chance to take out enemies long before they reach the boats.Pinnacle Shotis especially helpful in taking out Kamaitachi and Tsurube-otoshi before they get too close.

While Shiden Dance is much more powerful than Oka Dance, you want Soh to beable to move quite quicklyin this mission. It also allows you to easily attack enemies in the air with your Dance Attacks.

Where To Find Every Defilement

Tips For Beating Korai Valley

General Tips

This mission does not require carving the Spirit Path for Yoshiro or repairing any contraptions with the Carpenter. Use this free time topurge defilements and gather extra Crystals and Rationsbefore night falls, as you won’t get another chance.

There are also multiple points during the daylight section where you will find targets. This can beteleported to using the Butterfly Shot ability. This isn’t a very useful ability on the boats, but can give you plenty of extra Crystals and Rations if you’re running low during the day.

Crystals are saved between missions, so feel free tosave up more before trying this missionif you want to get the strongest effect possible from Sacred Tamagushi.

Sacred Tamagushi givesstrength proportionate to your max limit. This means the multiplier won’t be counted for any Crystals you acquire over your current limit.

Nighttime Tips

Once night falls, you set sail across the river, though the storm makes it hard to see the Seethe approaching. It is essential you check your minimap, as itsedges will glow purplein the direction of Seethe.

While your Archer and Marksman will have been sent to opposite ends, yourCannoneer should be left by the back of the main boat. Their range is magnificent, and they are liable to take out the likes of Tsurube-otoshi and Hirafugai before they can come near.

Be wary when placing your units on the boats aslightning will periodically strike the cannons, knocking them back and dealing damage.

One of the optional objectives is todefeat 5 Seethe using lightning strikes. The easiest way to do this is by placing a Sumo next to a cannon.

Remember that if a Hirafugai reaches the ship, it will shake it. Units placed on the shaken boatcannot act, and if left long enough, the Hirafugai willdestroy the boat entirely. Prioritise defeating them at all times.

Finally, Hirafugai can be defeated at a distance bypurging all the enemies they are carrying. This can be done either with the bow, or the cannons.

The last optional objective for Korai Valley is todefeat 50 Seethe with the cannons. Make sure the attack lines up with enemies before firing.

Keep those Villagers healed and alternate fire on the cannons, and it will be morning before you know it. With Korai Valley completed, you are awardedThe Stormy Battle Of The Lake Emaki Scroll, and may continue on to Kiritake Village.
