Zenless Zone Zerorequires you to dive deep into the Hollow to save the day. During a Hollow Raid, you’re able to traverse through several televisions on your screen to reach your goal. To progress through the main story, you need to complete such quests often.
The Explosive Last Train is an investigation quest where you will control your Bangboo to save the Cunning Hares. As you are their Proxy, you need to save your companions from the dire fate of getting bombed. You need to board the train from the Hollow to thwart Vision’s plans.
How To Start Explosive Last Train Quest
After completing the Prologue,Chapter 1will start with Nekomata barging into your office. She will explain the situation of the Cunning Hares and how they are stuck in a building while looking for her heirloom.
Apparently, Vision is about to destroy this building, and for this purpose, a train carrying explosives is on the way, and you need to find a way to stop it from within the Hollow. Once your chat and the sequence with Nekomata end, you will be able toaccess the Explosive Last Train quest from the HDD.
You cannot select your characters for this quest, asNekomata will be automatically selected as a trial character.
Inside The Hollow
Once you dive into the hollow, your first path leads you straight to thefirst warp television. So, keep moving forward while collecting everything in your way. As you traverse TVs on your path, you will notice that they are disappearing behind you, and apparently a powerful ethereal calledThe Dead End Butcheris destroying them.
Press the Direction keys in the following order to get to the warp point.
Slowing Down The Train
You will reach a new field with more TVs on your screen, and apparently, the train needs to be slowed down, so the Bangboo can board on it on time. Some loot can also be acquired during this point,go all the way leftto collect some, thengo right twiceand then up to get it, and finallyall the way downto gather it all.Go up twiceto reach your default position.
Apparently, to slow down the train, you need to activate a total of three switches. To do that, you need to find three weights that can keep them pressed while you get on the explosive train.
The First Switch
You will find the first weight near your default position,go right twiceto interact with it andpush it right oncetill it reaches the switch. After successfully doing this, you will notice that the tracks have changed their course slightly.
Overcoming The Obstacle
The second weight is a bit far away, and to get to it, you mustcomplete a story and combat sequence. From your current locationwhere you placed the first switch, go in the following direction to encounter an obstacle that you need to take care of.
After you interact with the obstacle, a cutscene will start after some dialogue, and Corin will join your team. You have to now defeat a couple of enemies to go further. BothCorin and Nekomata deal a lot of physical damage, so you will be able to defeat these adversaries without much challenge.
The Second Switch
You can now pass through the obstacle that hindered you. If you goright twice, you will be able toopen up a valve with 2,000 Gear Coins. After opening it, go right once to collect rewards, includingOfficial Investigator Logs, Denny, and W-Engine Power Supply. Head left once, and start going up towards the two weights.
Go up to push the weight down, and the head right onceto collect Hollow Observation Data. We recommend you not miss out on it as it will reward you with a few valuable Polychromes. Keep heading left till you push the weight over the switch. This will further hamper the train, as you change a few tracks.
Before you head towards the third weight, you’re able to collect another set of hollow observation data that is sandwiched between the three switches.
You will spot an enemy TV near the weights, you need to beat it to unlock the way forward. You will also acquire some more loot that is locked around it. Battle once again with Corina and Nekomata while you encounter a few mobs and a stronger enemy near the end of the sequence.
The Third Switch
Get back to the weight you left behind, andpush it upwardswhere it was originally located.Push the weight by moving rightso it flips in the other direction. This will allow you to carry it over to the final switch, follow the path below to carry it over unscathed.
Now you need to part off with Corin and board the train as it reaches the marked area.Move up onceand then keepheading all the way right, and then upto board the train.
