Teamfight TacticsSet 12, Magic N' Mayhem, has lots of traits that bring both entertainment and value for dedicated ranked players. One of the most visually unique traits is the Portal trait, which is the focus for one of the strongest team compositions in the set.
Like any team composition in TFT, it takes a couple of run-throughs and specific knowledge to be able to get top four finishes with preset compositions. Portal Ryze is one of the more straightforward team builds, with a focus on hitting level eight quickly and rolling for three key units.
How To Build The Portal Ryze Team Composition
If you want to build the Portal Ryze team in TFT Set 12, the first thing to focus on ishow you get units early on. If you cannotget the early Portal units, building the Portal Ryze team could prove a lot tougher to do.
Thankfully, due to the nature of this composition and its need to roll down at level eight,you can still build the composition if you have a poor startas long as youbuild the key itemsfor Ryze and Taricand roll down to get them on your board.
To start, here areall the units needed for the Portal Ryze composition:
This composition requires the player topick up every Portal unit availablein the game,alongside a Diana, to activate the Bastion trait.
When building this composition in theearly game phase,you want to try topick up Zoe, Jayce, Galio, Kassadin,and potentiallyEzreal. G
ettingthree Portal units will activate the first rendition of the trait, offering random buffs to allies or random damage to your opponents, so focus on doing that whileleveling up those units to at least two stars.
Gettingan early Ezreal, Ryze, or Taric is a near-guaranteed way to get top fourin most lobbies, especially ifyou get good itemsalongside them.
Then, as you advance into the late game, you try topick up those four-cost and five-cost unitsto complete your Portal build.
How To Level Up With The Portal Ryze Composition
Each team in TFT Set 12 requires a different set of units, which also means that leveling up at different times will allow you to get those units more effectively. For Portal Ryze,the goal is to level up normally until you hit level 6.
That means you should level up tolevel four at round 2-1, level five at 2-5, and level six at 3-2.
This composition is different from most because itfocuses on rolling down to get three-cost and four-cost units like Ezreal and Ryze, so the goal is toget to level eight with some coin quicker than most.
The ideal way to do that is tolevel to seven at 3-6 and eight at 4-2, leaving you plenty of time to try and get rare units before other players in the lobby do so.
Make sure when you level up to levels seven and eight that youhave plenty of coins to rerollfor Ryze and Taric.
Just hitting these levels alone isn’t enough to win lobbies, especially in ranked play, unless you got these rare units earlier on in the game.
What Items To Build For Portal Ryze
Out of all the units in the team, there are four to focus on building items on.
Yourprimary magicdamage dealer
A greatprimary physicaldamage dealer
Suggestedtank unit
With all of these items equipped, these unitsshould be powerful whether they are one-star or two-star.
This compositiondoesn’t need players to three-star any unitsfor success, butgetting a three-star Galiowith good tank items can be very handy if you’re hunting for a first-place finish.
