Dame Judy Wrench is a fun character to add into your fireteams inSteamworld Heist 2. It’s always a good time to play the character who explodes people’s heads by swearing at them, and in this game it happens to be an effective strategy.

Judy’s role in most parties is going to be softening up enemies for other bots to get killstreaks going. Her unique upgrades are focused around dealing small amounts of damage that ignore all forms of damage protection. This makes it easy to undervalue her since you’re likely going to remember the bot who executed the combo she enabled.

Judy’s Role In A Team

The side-job system means that bots broadly have three defining differences that determine who to put in what role. Their hitbox, and their two unique upgrades.

Impact

Hitbox

Judy’s height is a bit above average, but not to the degree that she’ll take much more damage than other characters. She might stick out of shallow cover a bit more than Poe, but won’t suffer too strongly for it.

Harsh Language

Her standout feature. Harsh language deals three points of damage that ignores armour and can target any enemy on the map. This makes her great in any mission that requires splitting your party, as she’s the only character who can reliably hit enemies through walls and around corners.

Sick Burn

Her second feature is Sick Burn, which upgrades Harsh Language to deal four area damage and inflict the burning status for two extra damage. The radius is impacted by aura upgrades, making the Engineer’s Wide Aura skill particularly useful for her, along with the Super Aura Booster item.

Judy’s big weakness is flying enemies. Harsh language can target floating robots, but thearea damage from Sick Burn will only affect grounded enemies.

How To Build Judy In The Early To Mid-Game

In the early game you want tomaximise the frequency Judy can use Harsh Language. It’ll start out strong enough to kill weak enemies single-handedly, and later on will still be effective for softening them up or hitting targets through walls.

How To Build Judy In The End-Game

By the end of the game you’ll have a lot of experience built up across several jobs, and a wealth of utility items to supplement different strategies. This is also where theSick Burn upgrade comes online, letting Harsh Language go from a nice way to plink at weak enemies to a free action explosive attack that can soften up large groups.

Because Sick Burn is a free action, Judy can weave it into the start of a turn and follow up with explosive attacks as a boomer, clearing groups by herself. She can also act last and use it to pick off annoying stragglers. It’s normallybest to use it first, to maximise the chance of activating on-kill effectsfor any Reapers on your team.

An Endgame build for Dame Judy that focuses on aura effects

This end-game build focuses on maximising her aura, and taking as many aura abilities as possible.

This means taking the following gear:

For side-jobs there are a few requirements but none that require maxing out multiple jobs.

You can’t reduce cooldowns below one turn, so sadly you will not be able to reduce your Free Action sidearm or Sick Burn to 0 cooldown.

This leaves plenty of room for you to slot in other side-job options depending on what you’ve unlocked for her. Engineer offers good passives and fits into her early game playstyle, making them easy to level.
