You’ll only see about five Freegunners during the starting cutscene ofConcord, though as you get into the game, you’ll quickly realize that there are a lot more choices for you. Not only does the game have over 15 Freegunners, but some of these also have Variants that technically count as a separate character.
However, when you enter the crew building screen, you only have 12 slots available. This makes it important to learn how this mechanic works since you’ll need to make good use of it if you want to win your games.

How To Access Crew Building
When you first start playing Concord, you’ll quickly realize that the Crew Builder is locked in the beginning. This is mainly because the game wants you to get accustomed to other mechanics before strategizing your crew. Youcan access this mechanic once you reach Reputation level six, which is also when youunlock your first Variant.
The easiest way to level up quickly in the game is by checking out the Job Board and trying to finish as many jobs as possible in a single game. Some of these jobs areas easy as pinging enemies while others can take you a while, like having to defeat enemies specifically with a critical hit.

How To Build A Crew For Each Game Mode
Once you enter the Crew Builder after reaching level six, you’ll quickly realize that you can make multiple crews and switch between them with ease, which allows you to make at least one crew for each of the three main Playlists. It’s essential to consider the type of mode you’re going to play and select your crew accordingly.
Here are thebest practices to keep in mindwhile building your crew for each mode:

Brawl/Overrun
In these modes of Concord, your character gets respawned a few seconds after you get defeated. you’re able to also use any Freegunner in this mode however much you want as long asno other player in your team is using any Variant of that Freegunner.
Ideally, you’d want topopulate your crew with 12 unique Freegunner Variantsfor these so that you’re able to have as many choices as possible.
Rivalry
In this mode, you’re not allowed to respawn until the next round once you get defeated. Moreover, if you win a round with a specific Freegunner Variant, that particular slot gets locked for the rest of the game. This is where you need to have repeats.
Even if you win a round with a specific Freegunner Variant, you canuse them again as long as you have a copy of them on your crew. Ideally, you’d want to have some copies of your best Freegunner Variant.
You need to haveat least six unique Freegunners in your crewand can only have a maximum of three copies for each Variant.
Once you’ve made your crew, you can go back to the main Crew Builder screenwhere you’ll be able to see how many crew bonuses are there. These bonuses can be quite important in each game, so you’d want to have as many as possible. When you play a round with a Freegunner, you can get their crew bonus when the round ends or you get defeated.
These crew bonuses stay on your active character throughout the game, andwhile you may stack multiple types of bonuses, you can only get one of each type.
Backup Crew System, Explained
When you’re selecting a Freegunner in the game, apart from the 12 Freegunner on your team, you’ll also see four backup slots on the right. These slots attempt to fill in the gaps that exist in your current crew, but if you’re early on in the game, they’ll essentially allow you to use almost every character.
The first slot usually consists of the latest Freegunner released, though thiscan’t happen if you already have the Freegunner in your crew. The other slots attempt to either fill a missing role in your crew or a Variant.
