There are a ton of optional bosses that you can face off against in chapter 2 ofBlack Myth: Wukong. Some of these bosses are so far away from the main bosses that you probably wouldn’t come across them unless you knew where to look.

Tiger’s Acolyte is an optional boss that you can encounter near the Windrest Hamlet Shrine. Wielding a long sword, this boss deals considerable damage but also has many glaring weaknesses that make it fairly easy to defeat. Defeating the boss is worth it because it drops the Old Rattle-Drum Key Item, which unlocks the Mad Tiger Secret Boss.

The Arched Bridge near the Windrest Hamlet Shrine.

How To Find Tiger’s Acolyte

To get to Tiger’s Acolyte, you’ll have to reach theCrouching Tiger Templeand defeat the Tiger Vanguard. After that, you have to go past the temple and progress through the area until you reach the Windrest Hamlet Shrine.

Defeating Stone Vanguard isn’t required to face Tiger’s Acolyte. You only need to defeat the Tiger Vanguard to pass through the temple.

Tiger’s Acolyte is attacking the Destined One.

From the Windrest Hamlet Shrine, go to your left and cross the small bridge with a few Yaogauis on it. After that, go downhill and head to the large arched bridge, and you’ll find Tiger’s Acolyte on top of it.

Tiger’s Acolyte Attacks

Tiger’s Acolyte has a variety of combos, and he can easilyswitch from one combo to the other. It is difficult to exactly predict what move he is going to make, but there’s a general rule that you may follow to avoid most of his combos.Sprinting awayfrom the boss and creating some distance will make him miss most of the combos, regardless of what he throws at you.

How To Avoid

Jumping Attack Into Slash

Tiger’s Acolyte willjump into the airand stab the ground on landing. After landing, the boss will throw another slash.

The jumping attack is easy to avoid bydodging. The follow-up attack misses on its own in most cases, but you can dodge it right away as you see him swing his sword.

The description of Tiger’s Acolyte Spirit Summon is shown on the screen.

Claw Attack

The boss will throw asingle claw attackin your direction. He’ll use this attack to close in the distance.

Easy to dodge but difficult to predict, you have tododge backwardsas you see the boss using this attack.

Old-Rattle Drum Key Item is shown on the screen.

Claw Attack combo

The boss will launch a5-hit combo, hitting the Destined One with his claws in quick succession. There’s a slight delay after the second and the fourth attack. The final attack isa thrustand the boss will jump back after using it. From there, he can start another combo.

Quick dodging to the side repeatedlymakes it easier to dodge the first four attacks. The thrust attack can be dodged in any direction.

Slash, Roll, Into Combo

The boss will approach the player and throw a vertical slash, roll forward, and begin a2-hit combo, where the final hit may or may not unleash a straight, ranged shockwave.

You can simply dodge the first attack, andsprint backwardsto create some distance. The boss will then miss most of his attacks and you can hit him back once he’s done with his combo.

Kick Combo

Tiger’s Acolyte will pair thiskick combowith most of his attacks. The front kick will lead to further slashes where the final attack may or may not be a ranged shockwave attack.

This attack can be avoided bydodging the first attack and sprinting to your back. If the last hit is ranged, you can simply dodge in any direction as the shockwave is very linear. There are a few instances where he’ll roll forward to close in the distance and then throw a horizontal slash. If that happens and the boss manages to catch up to you, dodge backwards and sprint awayagain.

Shoulder Tackle

While retreating after using any of his combos, the boss may use this attack where hejumps back and attacks you with his shoulder, closing in the distance instantly.

You have to watch out for this attack as it may throw you off the bridge. This attack islinear and has a short rangeso it will miss in most cases if you keep moving.

3-Hit Sword Slashes

Tiger’s Acolyte will take up the attacking stance, andthrow a slash after a short delay. The first two attacks are quicker, while the final hit is slightly delayed and is a small jumping attack. The boss will jump back after using this combo and may begin another combo.

You can avoid this attack bydodging each hitwhen the boss swings his sword.

Impaling Thrust

The boss will get into a stance with his swordpointed forward. The sword will flash, and the boss will throw animpaling thrust, followed by the Kick Combo.

Dodge to the side as you see the sword flashing, andquickly sprint backto avoid the Kick Combo.

Shockwave Slash

As his combo enders, the Tiger’s Acolyte may use these moves that will send astraight shockwave on the ground, dealing damage to the player if they’re hit by it. You can recognize this attack by the little sparks that fly as the shockwave is travelling through the ground.

This attack is only troublesome because the shockwave doesn’t come out sometimes, and you miss out on the opportunity to get in some hits. The shockwave itself is easy to avoid bydodging or moving awayas it only travels in a straight line at a slow speed.

How To Defeat Tiger’s Acolyte

The basic strategy for this boss battle revolves around your taking control of the fight. If you give the boss a lot of room to attack and use his combos, he’ll most likely kill you because his attacks deal a lot of damage. Tiger’s Acolytedoesn’t have that much HPso if you keeprushing him down, you’ll be able to defeat him easily.

Be wary of your position on the bridge, as getting hit by the Tiger’s Acolyte can knock you off it and you’ll die instantly. you may avoid this by staying away from the edges of the bridge.

Be wary of his combos while keeping in mind that you don’t have to dodge everything. Just dodge the first strike for most of the boss' attacks and then create some distance bysprinting away. After the boss is done with his combos, approach him by using theCloud Step or Immobilizeto dish out damage.

You can also useRock Solid to parrymost of his attacks. Don’t count on tanking the damage while using heavy attacks, as that might kill you because of how hard this boss hits.

Avoid using Rock Solid on his claw moves, as it might not always work even if your timing is perfect and only use it when you see him winding back to throw an attack.
