In any good Souls game, there are plenty of dragons to find, defeat, and be defeated by. Not only isElden Ringno different in that regard, it actually features a frankly absurd amount of dragons scattered across the entire world as both minibosses you can avoid and winged beasts that you need to put down to continue.
Shadow of the Erdtree continues this tradition while even adding a dedicated location all about dragons - the Jagged Peak. Right at the foot of this draconic mountain, you shall find the dreaded Jagged Peak Drake, hoping to block your further progress. Read on to put him firmly in his place.

Where To Find The Jagged Peak Drake
Despite being called the Jagged Peak Drake, they’re not actually on the Jagged Peak proper, but at the base of the mountain. There’s no missing them however as they do block you progressing any further.
More specifically, the entrance to the base of Jagged Peak is discoveredafter completing the Dragon’s Pit cave. This cave is found in the Gravesite Plains near the standing pillar on a large hill to the east. You’ll know you’re approaching the cave when you hear a character, Igon, crying out in pain.

After beating the boss of Dragon’s Pit, you’re able to continue through the cave to discover the Dragon’s Pit Terminus site of grace and the Jagged Peak Drake sleeping in the valley below beside the fossilised remains of its brethren

Recommended Build For Jagged Peak Drake
Despite the imposing name and location, the Jagged Peak Drake isn’t all that different from most other dragonsyou’ll fight in the game. As such, the typical recommendations, as well as some Shadow of the Erdtree unique aspects, are as follows:
There’s not too much out of the ordinary here. If you already feel extra prepared, some lightning resistance wouldn’t hurtfor their second phase though it’s honestly not too much of an added threat.

How To Beat The Jagged Peak Drake
If you’ve already defeated a few dragons in Elden Ring, the Jagged Peak Drake shouldn’t prove exceptionally challenging. With a little preparation and a healthy dose of Scadutree blessings, they’re perfectly manageable.
Like other dragons, theJagged Peak Drake mostly stays stationaryattacking in wide arcs with its wings or tails, stomping when you get too close, or hovering into the air to reposition themselves fair away from you. As such, you’ll want to ride Torrent for the entirety of this battle to avoid those powerful hits.

Remember that the legs are the easiest place to hit, but also the most resistant.Aiming for the head where possible is the bestfor stagger potential and maximum damage.
Jagged Peak Drake Moveset
The one difference the Jagged Peak Drake has over most other overworld bosses is the existence of an (albeit minimal) second phase where they coat themselves in lightning. This doesn’t change them dramatically but gives you one extra thing to worry about over the course of the fight. Here’s their full moveset below -
Counter
Spinning Bite
The dragon will perform a180-degree spin while biting and whipping their tail, trying to catch you off guard when you’re behind them.
The best way of avoiding this to tonever be perfectly behind the dragon. Keep to the sides of its legs or wings so you may get a better overall view of the dragon.
Leg Stomp
The dragon will raise one of its legs (whichever you’re nearest) and stomp the ground, causing a small area of effect damage.
Whenever you see the dragon lift its leg, the best strategy is to simply either step back, or run to the other leg. The area of damage is relatively small, and even justjumping is enough to avoid the shockwave.
Aerial Firestorm
The dragon will ascend into the air and beginraining down a breath of firewhile positioning themselves far away from you.
Whenever you see the dragon ascend into the air, make sure you’re locked on and circle around them. If you try to follow them directly, you’ll most likely end up in the path of flames. Running around avoids the flames while still letting you keep pace with them.
Aerial Swoop
The dragon will ascend into the air and hover for a moment beforeslamming back down directly on top of you.
The dragon has very strong tracking with this move, so the safest method is tolock on once they ascend and jump with Torrent to either side of the dragonwhen you see them descending. Never stand still.
Fire Breath
When you’re a distance away from the dragon, they will startbreathing a wave of fire to keep you away.
These flames rise quite high, so trying to jump over them will damage either you or Torrent. Instead, run to the side and get close to the head. This is a great opportunity to get some free hits in while they are locked in the move.
Wing Swipes
The dragon will stretch out their wings and swipe them in a wide arc ahead of them. They can perform this with just one wing, follow it up with a swipe from the second wing, oreven perform a third and final swipe.
This is a very far-reaching attack. The best strategy is to either get quite far away when you see them rearing up their wings, or run behind them. The sides are still liable to get hit.
Lightning Bolts
After transitioning into its second phase, the dragon will coat its body in lighting andperiodically strike the area around them with lightning bolts.
There’s not too much added threat in this other than the lightning bolts. It is clearly marked where they’re going to strike, however, so simplykeep moving to always avoid them.
And that’s it! There’s not too much extra or fancy in regards to the Jagged Peak Drake’s moveset, and the arena is thankfully flat enough that no elevation issues should arise.Make sure to do charged attacks on the heador legs where possible to stagger them as soon as you can.
Jagged Peak Drake Strengths And Weaknesses
Like most dragons, the Jagged Peak Drake is sturdy, but not exceptionally resilient. They have anatural resistance to fire and lightning, but that’s about it. Everything else is fair game when fighting them.
Due to their own slow speed, heavy weapons can be a boon against them. Getting between their legs and hitting them with some charged heavies will leave them open to riposte in no time.
Finally, blood loss and frostbite are great elements to use on them because you’ll have plenty of time between their attacks to build up status effects.Blood Loss especially shreds their healthin no time.
What Does The Jagged Peak Drake Drop?
After defeating the Jagged Peak Drake, they drop two items - aDragon Heart, andDragonscale Flesh.
TheDragon heart is the sameas the ones you get from Dragon’s in the base game. In this instance, they can be used to get some of the expansion’s newDragon Communion abilities.
To find out how to get theseDragon Communionabilities, check out our guide on it here!
Dragonscale Flesh flesh is a new consumable item. When used,it boosts vigor, stamina, strength, and dexterity, though continually drains your HP. It’s a powerful boon, though one you have to be very careful with that it doesn’t end up killing you before your enemies.
With that, the path to Jagged Peak is a little bit more clear and the Jagged Peak Drake is defeated. Good job!
