Borderlands 3has a lot of enemies to kill, from the regular bandits on Pandora to the robots on Promethea. However, throughout the game, there are specific mini-bosses outside of quests that are tough to beat, but can reward players with legendary loot.

Most, if not all, of these non-quest related bosses are tied to Sir Hammerlock, an avid monster hunter who needs a Vault Hunter to help defeat creatures that he cannot defeat himself. One of these creatures is on Eden-6, where jungle and swamp are the majority of where players run through, and the Jabbermogwai has the potential to make what seems like an easy battle extremely tough.

How To Find The Jabbermogwai

To start, finding the Jabbermogwai is relatively easy, but itrequires the player to have begun or completed The Family Jewel’s main story quest. This quest takes the player to a location known as theVoracious Canopy, where the wreck of a big ship lies in a swamp surrounded by wild creatures and swampland.

The Jabbermogwai is on this map, but instead of toward the ship, it isto the left of the sole fast travel stationon the map; the location is noticeable among the swamp, asthe Jabbermogwai lives in a little shack. When approaching it,it will exit the hutand attack any players nearby, alongsidea quick voice line from Hammerlockasking the player to kill it.

Due to the nature of Borderlands 3 being fighting bosses multiple times for loot drops, when the player finds the Jabbermogwaifor the first time,it will be marked for the future on the mapwith a green diamond with a head outline in the middle.

How To Defeat The Jabbermogwai

As a miniboss, the Jabbermogwaiis like any standard Jabber enemy in Borderlands 3, but with one big difference; when he eithertouches the waternearby orgets hit by Cryo damage, he willsplit into more Jabbermogwaithat the player has to defeat. Therefore, the easiest way to defeat the Jabbermogwai is tokill him as fast as possible, before he touches nearby water.

Trying to slow him down would be a good strategy if it wasn’t for the fact that it also causes him to duplicate, so doing as much damage as possible in a short time is the best option. The Jabbermogwaihas an easy-to-hit crit spotwith its head, so gettinga weapon withextra critical damagecan be one way to do it. The other way is withpowerful Torgue weapons, as the explosive damage can whittle down enemies fast.

However, the true way to defeat a Jabbermogwai fastiswith a Siren, asa Phasegrasp will keep the Jabber locked in mid-airand prevent him from touching any water while allowing for easy shots and critical hits from anyone nearby. The second-best Vault Hunter ability for defeating Jabbermogwai isMoze’s Iron Bear or Iron Cub, as it can also deal a lot of damage in a short time.

The Jabbermogwai, like every monster on Sir Hammerlock’s list, has a higher chance to drop specific rare items. For this one, the two items it has a higher chance of dropping are the legendary Hellfire submachine gun and the legendary Magnificent pistol.

Use whatever means you have at your disposal to deal as much damage to it as you can before it touches the water, frompowerful grenades to powerful guns and abilities, as long as theydon’t deal Cyro damage. If he does end up multiplying, you’ll just have todeal with each individual Jabbermogwaito clear the boss battle and get the potential legendary loot it offers.
