As you go through the world ofVisions of Mana, you’ll encounter plenty of enemies you can’t quite hold your own against initially. Eventually, you’ll be able to bring the battle to these baddies, but for now you’re just left to run away and continue on your journey.

The majority of these enemies will be found amidst the Ancient Ruins you find in most regions of the world. If you’re here reading this, then you’ve probably come across them already. Lucky you, there’s a quest all about beating them, and we’re going to show you how to do it with ease.

Historian Fuyeu thanking Val for dealing with all the monster sin the Ancient ruins in visions of mana.

How To Beat Every Ancient Ruins Boss

Immediately after completing Historian Fuyeu’s previous quest, Traces of the Ancients, he will offer you its follow-up,Nemesis takedown. It’s a rather simple but simultaneously daunting task. He wants you to travel back to the eight Ancient Ruins across the world and defeat all of the monsters within.

The enemies at each ruin are immensely strong, though also follow a specific format to each. Every Ancient Ruin has sets of enemies, andeach must be defeated before the entrance to the boss of the Ancient Ruin will open. This will be denoted by a short cutscene showing a brazier light up outside the entrance after each group is defeated.

Here are some tips before you get started:

Thankfully, these enemies do not respawneither, so feel free to go back and save after each encounter so you don’t lose any progress.

Charred Passage Ancient Ruin

Here you will battleBrutal Guri, a Goblin-type enemy. They’re not exceptionally challenging, though they have the ability to dash across the battlefield to reposition at a moment’s notice in the same fashion you do during an Elemental Break.

He is atLevel 52when battled, whilewe were at Level 35, so you can tackle these pretty early on if you feel confident. Brutal Guri has one key weakness, as do his summons -Wind. Keep at him like this and you’ll have him beat in no time. Your reward is theMortal Twiliance Lancefor Val.

The flames being extinguished in the Aery Passage ancient ruins in visions of mana.

Aery Passage Ancient Ruin

You will battleBolt Urusat the Aery Passage, a Bulette-type enemy. Like previous, they can dash across the battlefield whenever they want to reposition, so always keep them in the centre of your screen so they don’t catch you off guard. Thankfully, they’re weak to Windas well.

They are battled atLevel 52,while we wereLevel 37.Bolt Urus' adds should be dealt with first as they become an easy distraction. Bolt Urus' most dangerous move istheir charge which has the potential to down your party in a single hit. Try to avoid being near them entirely during this charge in case you get hit.

After beating them, you can collect theMystic Revelunge Spearfrom the chest for Careena.

Lefeya Drifts Ancient Ruin

You will battleJointed Tikkleat Lefeya Drifts. They are a fish-type enemy, and have a set ofDainslaif enemies assisting them. These enemies areweak to Light and Smash, so set-up your Classes to take advantage of this.

Jointed Tikkle isLevel 53during this battle, while we wereLevel 39. They have no particularly difficult moves to look out for, thoughthey can freeze youwith certain moves.

After their defeat, you can collect theMystic RageviseFists for Careena.

Fallow Steppe Ancient Ruin

In the Fallow Steppe Ancient Ruins, you will battleManipulated Bruiser. Despite only being the fourth of the Ancient Ruins bosses, he is also one of the most difficult. He is fought atLevel 54, while he wereLevel 41.

He has two additional Dark Knights with him, which complicates things. While they are weak to Light and deal Dark Damage, Manipulated Bruiser is the opposite. A helpful trick is to battle the Dark Knights first, and then flee the battle to heal or change Classes.

Putting aConsecutive Casting Ability Seed on Palamenais very helpful here to double up the damage.

Manipulated Bruiser doesn’t have any particularly challenging moves, they just all hit like a truck. Take your time with them and don’t forget totake advantage of Class Strikes. After their defeat, you’ll get theEthereal Shiftcane Canefor Morley.

Pritta Ridge Ancient Ruin

With Pritta Ridge, the enemies surrounding the Ancient Ruins also get more difficult. Some of them areweak to Light, while others are weak to Earth. Make sure to come with both elements to defeat them with ease.

After these enemies, you will faceAstral Thrace, who is battled at Level 54. We wereLevel 43during this encounter. The boss here isweak to Earth, and is a dramatic drop in difficulty compared to Manipulated Bruiser. They canparalyze and miniaturiseyou though, so equip resisting Ability Seeds if you have them.

After their defeat, you will acquire theSpirit Acrisythe Scythefor Palamena.

Ahrvet’s Pasture Ancient Ruin

The enemies surrounding Ahrvet’s Pasture’s Ancient Ruins areweak to both Water and Slash damage, and are not exceptionally difficult either way. The boss,Custodial Truffle, is weak to Windinstead.

Linking these enemies with Lumina’s Lanternbefore attacking them with the Undine Flask will have them obliterated in seconds.

They are battled atLevel 55, while we were atLevel 45during this encounter. Again, there’s no absurd moves going on here, thoughthey can put you to sleep, which isn’t an ideal way to fight a battle. After their defeat, you may collect theSpirit Treadstep Bootsfor Palamena.

Khaswia Moors Ancient Ruin

In the Khaswia Moors Ancient Ruins, you will encounter a variety of enemies, thoughall of them are weak to either Light or Water, and some to Slashing damageas well. The Lumina Lantern-Undine Flask combo from before is a killer here as well.

At the top, you will meetMagic User Ambrose. They are battled at Level 55, while we were atLevel 46. You will notice that Magic User Ambrose is surrounded by a few of every enemy in the ruin. Deal with these first to focus everything on Ambrose.

Unlike the other bosses,Ambrose actually has no weaknessesand is in fact eitherresistant or outright immune to every elementexcept for Moon or Wood. As such, you’ll be relying on a lot of raw strength here. They use a few different elements and canparalyze and burn youas well. Persevere though, and you’ll be awarded theArboreal Paraquelll Parasolfor Julei.

Zawhak Desert Ancient Ruin

The grand finale takes place in the Zawhak Desert Ancient Ruins. Throughout, you will fight various slimes. Thered slimes are weak to water, while the blue slimes are weak to fire. Easy. The Lime Slimes have no weaknesses though, and must simply be defeated with powerful magic, as they are resistant to all forms of physical damage.

At the pinnacle, you will encounterExtant Miasopia. They are Level 56, while we wereLevel 48during this fight. Extant Miasopia canfreeze you very easily, so equipping Ability Seeds to counter this is essential to the fight.Fire is also their only weakness, so bring plenty of it.

When you battle Extant Miasopia, deal with their Slimes first, and then flee the battle to heal up and prepare. Extant Miasopia has the unique feature of beingcompletely immune to physical damage. This means the only way to deal damage against them is either withmagic, or by casting an Elemental Saberon your weapons.

After their defeat, you can collect theArboreal Blossomer Hammerfor Julei.

The Reward For Nemesis Takedown

After you’ve defeated all of these fearsome bosses, you mayreturn to Historian Fuyeu in Illystana, who is awaiting your return with bated breath.

Upon your return, he thanks you profusely, claiming he truly did not think the task possible. As a generous reward for this task, he offers you theRespect for the Ancients Ability Seed. This Ability Seedstrengthens every Normal Attack by 30%, but drains 3% of your healthwith each attack as well. High risk, high reward.
