Lingxuzi ofBlack Myth: Wukongwill be your first big boss of the game, introducing you to the sort of layout you should expect from bosses from hereon to some degree. Building your expectations, Lingxuzi sets the difficulty bar low but teaches foundations you’ll want to master before continuing.
With this in mind, this will not only help you turn this monster into your newest sitting room carpet, but it’ll help point out some of the habits you should be building for your easiest success in the future. After all, victorious is the monkey who best prepares (that’s a saying, right?).

Suggested Counter
Lunge Swipe Combo
Rearing back onto its back feet, the beast lunges forward quickly and performs a right-handed swiping attack. This attack can end here or continues into the rest of the combo where it then follows up with a second, left-handed swipe before backflipping away.
Double dodge, first left and then right through the swipes.

Swiping Claw - Lunge Bite Combo
Holding its right claw back, Lingxuzi performs a swiping attack in front of it. Finishing the combo, it rears onto its back feet with hands raised before lunging forward in a bite attack. If struck after this attack, it will begin to lick its paw.
Dodge first left and then forward. Follow-up with an attack.

Grab Plunge
Lingxuzi will run away and tuck itself against the wall. With an audio cue of a roar-like sound, it will dash forward with a swipe. If struck, it will toss the player into the air and slam them into the ground
Dodge roll forward just as it is about to grab you.

Slow Pounce
With a slow running-hop forward, Lingxuzi will leap into the air and pounce on the player. Both hands will slash horizontally and inward as if a pair of scissors.
Dodge roll in any direction, then attack.
Howl
Taking a long and deep inhale of breath, Lingxuzi will let out a howl that knocks the player back when in melee and deals minor damage.
Keep your distance when you hear the inhale. After it lets the howl loose, attack.

Rooftop Lunge
It will jump onto the rooftops, leaping between them as it circles the player. It will then lunge off in a pounce atop the player that temporarily breaks the ground upon impact. This move can be canceled, Lingxuzi climbing back off the rooftops without any attack.
Wait for Lingxuzi to reach the center of the temple grounds rooftops. Dodge roll forward as it is about to land on the ground. Once clear, punish with attacks.

Intimidating as Lingxuzi seems, the boss only has six attack combinations, making him a relatively easy boss to get a handle on. Additionally, most of his attacks are accommodating for mistakes and deal little damage.
As long as you’ve spent a little time getting to grips with the battle mechanics and have used up your Sparks wisely, you’ll likely overcome him with little difficulty.
In terms of moves to look out for,his grab can be very difficult to dodge out of. It only appears to have about 30 frames of cue animation time (less than half a second), meaning you’ll want to be on guard whenever you see Lingxuzi run for a wall.
Thankfully, if you get caught, it’s not too big of a deal as his damage for this move is negligible at best.
However, learning how to time quick attacks like this one will provide you with the best success in the future, sowe recommend practicing this move specifically. It will be very helpful in the long run, for this game and for those of you who might be interested in similar games with notoriously short dodge windows (such as Lies of P).
How To Defeat Lingxuzi
When beginning your fight with Lingxuzi,he will almost always resort to his Lunge Swipe combo first. He’ll set the trend for boss enemies beginning with a quick, lunging attack.
Don’t let him catch you off guard andbegin dodge-rolling appropriatelythrough this attack.
Lingxuzi is not a boss you need to do any real preparing for. If necessary, rest at the nearest shrine, but consumables and special features are not necessary to look into for this beginning boss.
Once you’re settled into the fight with him, you’ll want to watch for certain openings. There are two with wide openings:
You won’t be able to get a good hit in with his Lunge Swipe combo due to the backflip unless you use Immobilize on him in midair. This, however, comes with the caveat of strange hitboxes.
While fighting Lingxuzi, you’ll need towatch out for both his grab and his howl attacks.
If you find yourself struggling with Lingxuzi, take these notes to heart:
Remember that, if you can use it, sound is a huge indicator for attacks. If your eyes are betraying you, try listening for certain audio cues to help timing your dodges.
No matter how you go about Lingxuzi, don’t worry about strategy too much. This combat is here to naturalize you with the feel of Wukong and basic boss mechanics.
Study him. Focus on learning and on feeling, and you won’t go too wrong.
