Kang-Jin Star is the initial chapter three boss withtwophases and a transformation. While her second phase will be oddly similar to the first phase regarding the move set, the foremost difference is that she has the ability to extend them for anoutright nerve-wracking combo.
Her patterns are not the issue here; the damage she deliversis frustrating.
How To Counter
Mini-Lightning Spears
Kang-Jin Star will shoot numerouslightning spearsdivided into two parts to initiate the battle with The Destined One.
Once the fight starts,wait for her to shoot the spears, and you candodge towards the left or rightto avoid them.
Lightning Swipe and Strike
Kang-Jin Star will jump and raise her hand tosummon an electric boltat The Destined One’s location. Once she moves down, she throws a singlelightning spear.
While Kang-Jin Star is in mid-air, wait for the electric circle at theground to close. Instantly make aperfect dodge right, and when she throws a lightning spear,dodge right again.
Three-Hit Shock Combo (Two Variants)
In thefirst phase, Kang-Jin Star will make athree-hit combothat inflicts shock and only works in the short range.
In thesecond phase, she willincrease the hits to four, followed bytwo electric boltsfrom the ground.
When she begins this combo, you will seelightning drawn from her hand. Simplydodge backwardto avoid being in her combo’s radius.
For the second phase, the way to dodge it remains the same.
Lightning Grabs (Two Variants)
Kang-Jin Star willsummon lightningin her hands to grab The Destined One, and she will toss themto the side.
In phase two, the initiation will be the same, but shepierces The Destined Oneusing the lightning spears numerous times before throwing them away, delivering immense damage.
For a moment, she will charge lightning in her hands. That is your queue tododge backwardto circumvent the grab.
Lightning Orbs
While levitating, Kang-Jin Star will first throw four lightning spears at The Destined One and follow up withfive lightning orbsin aone/one/one/twothrowing sequence.
Wait for the spears, anddodge either left or right.
For the Lightning Orbs, patiently await their arrival and make a perfect dodge in any direction.
Lightning AOE
In mid-air, Kang-Jin Star will become stationary and makea huge AOE lightning effect, followed by a lightning wave all over the arena.
Watch her movements, and once she starts to release lightning from her body,dodge backward.
For thelightning wave, jump forward.
Lightning Spear Barrage
In the second phase, Kang-Jin Star will levitate and summon aholy grail of Lightning Spears, followed by a huge lightning bolt throw.
She takesthree seconds to chargethe move, so keepdodging whereveryou have more open space.
Dragon Transformation: Lightning Strikes
Just like Kang-Jin Loong, Kang-Jin Star can transform into a dragon andsummon lightning strikesfrom the sky.
Run around the arena while looking for the lightning strike drop indicators.
Dragon Transformation: Tail Smash
After turning into a dragon,Kang-Jin Star will rolland use her tail to smash The Destined Once.
Wait for the tail to drop, anddodge leftto have a wider space to run.
How To Defeat Kang-Jin Star
Once the fight initiates,run forwardandprepare to dodge the incoming Lightning Spears. Before she settles down, Kang-Jin Star will follow up with aLightning bolt along with a spear, and after successfully evading it, rush andexecute a full combo.
Since her poise isextraordinarily low, she will immediately lose her ground, providing you with a window for one or two hits at max.When she recovers, dodge backwardand use theShock-Quelling powderin case shock has been inflicted.
If Kang-Jin Star catches up with your speed, use theImmobilize spellon her to proffer yourself with the Shock-Quelling powder to subdue the shock stat.
For a moment, Kang-Jin Star willbecome stationary for a dialogue, and that is your biggest ticket toinflict a drastic attack upon her.
Before casting the Immobilizer spell, use the ‘A Pluck of Many’ spell, as it requires heaps of time to activate.
If pressurized enough, Kang-Jin Star willtransform into a dragonwho looks similar toKang-Jin Loong. If she summons the lightning strikes,run around the arenaand, with patience,wait for her to revert.
Once shereturns to the ground, you will have enough time foranother combo, and this time, she may become stunned, falling flat to the ground.
After she falls, you can useWandering Wight’ssummon to deliver whopping damage since this animation doesn’t provide her with I-frames.
Her enigmatic second phase is the biggest hindrance in this fight. When thebrightness suddenly dims, be prepared tododge multiple Lightning Spearsdropping from the sky.
If your dodge tempo breaks and one of the spears hits you, the remaining spears will catch up and doimmense damage.
Wait patiently to execute a dodge perfectly so you can avoid every lightning spear that Kang-Jin Star will summon upon you. Panicking would be the last thing to do here, so recollect yourself and wait for the incoming spears.
To conquer this stern phase, you must combine everything available in your inventory; a beauty behind the madness. Make sure to use your transformations efficiently, and the greatest opportunity to attack will reveal itself once youdodge the grab attacks.
