Genshin Impactis one of the few live-service games that has been going strong even four years after its release, but one of the main complaints the player base had about the game was the lack of endgame modes. Spiral Abyss was the only endgame for a long time, and it reset twice a month giving the same rewards for four years.

However, this changed during the version 4.7 update with the addition of Imaginarium Theater. This game mode works quite differently and it’s a breath of fresh air, but you’ll have to properly understand its mechanics if you want to beat it.

Genshin Impact Imaginarium Theater Opening Characters Screen

Opening And Alternate Cast, Explained

Before you do anything else in Imaginarium Theater, you’ll first have to understand how the cast system works sinceyou won’t even be able to scratch the surface of the mode without it. Essentially, the game mode puts some heavy restrictions on the type of characters you may use. For example, in the first season, you could only use Pyro, Hydro, and Electro characters.

Based on this, you get six Opening Cast and up to 12 Alternate Cast members. The former is already decided by the game, and you can’t use any other character except the chosen ones for the Opening Cast. However, if you don’t have these characters, you can instead use the trial version provided by the developers.

Genshin Impact Imaginarium Theater Alternate Cast Screen

The amount of Alternate Cast members you’re able to usedepends on the difficulty you chooseat the start of the mode.

After selecting the initial members, your screen goes forward to selecting the Alternate Cast. You canuse three types of charactersin this:

Genshin Impact Imaginarium Theater Fantastical Blessings Screen

Available Characters

This area shows all the units youcurrently have on your accountthat satisfy the conditions of Imaginarium Theater. You won’t get any trial characters in this part.

Special Guest Members

During every Imaginarium Theater cycle, there will be a few special members that you can use even ifthey don’t fulfill the elemental requirement. However, you need to have these characters on your account since you won’t get a trial.

Supporting Cast

Finally, on the right side of this screen, you’ll see an option to choose up to one Supporting Cast member. Essentially, other playerscan put certain characters on their Supporting Cast, and you can pick one of them here.

Keep in mind that youcan’tpick the Supporting Castcharacter from your general rosteranymore, as there can only be one of them.

Using all these types of characters, you have to fill up the slots of Alternate Cast. Now that you know what each type of cast means, it’s alsoimportant to understand their significance in battle:

Vigor, Explained

The main reason why you need so many characters in the Theater is because of the Vigor system. During thestart of the battle or when new characters join the team, they get two Vigor. One Vigor is consumed every time you use a character in battle and win to move on to the next Act.

Once both Vigors are consumed, you won’t be able to use the character anymore unless you get lucky with certain events. Moreover, you’re forced to use four units in a team during every battle, which means thatfour characters will lose one Vigor each for every Act you pass.

Imaginarium Theater General Walkthrough

Once you’ve selected your cast, the next step is tostart the performance and beat all the acts, up to eight depending on your difficulty. Before each act, you’ll be on a screen whereyou can choose one out of four events. These events include the following:

Description

Battle: Normal

Puts you in a battle against a bunch of regular enemies with three set tasks. The first task is to beat all the enemies, which gives you the most Fantasia Flowers. Thesecond task gives you a special condition for some more flowers.

Finally, the third task gives you a time limit to earn a Stella. Whenyou’re successful in this battle, you get to the next Act.

Wondrous Boon

Consumes 60 Fantasia Flowers tolet you select one out of three random buffsfor your battle.

Mystery Cache

These are free events that can be triggered, and similar to Wondrous Boon, it has you select from two random effects. However, these effectsusually have a risk and reward nature.

Companion: Random

This event consumes 80 Fantasia Flowers and gives you two random characters from your Alternate Cast, but you can only pick one to join the battle. When you don’t have enough Alternate members, it only gives you one choice.

Battle: Climactic Showdown

When you’re entering Acts three, six, and eight, you’ll instead get this type of battle event. It’llhave you fight against a boss enemy if you want to progress, but the tasks in it are the same as normal battle.

Whenever you select an event other than the battle one, every event except the battle eventsgets refreshed.

When you’re entering a normal battle act, this usuallyadds another Battle event to the choices.

Essentially, you wouldn’t want to hoard your Fantasia Flowers since youmight not be able to use a lot of them at once. To get past Imaginarium Theater, yousimply have to get past up to eight Actswhile beating every enemy in each one of them. The main challenge during this is the lack of good team composition.

Ideally, you’d want tosave your best DPSand support charactersfor the boss battles. Moreover, the Stellas you gain by beating the acts in a certain time limit are essentially medals that are displayed on your profile, but don’t serve any other purpose.

Fantastical Blessings, Explained

For the first time in Genshin Impact’s history, there’s a special effect that not only buffs your characters inside the game mode, but also in overworld and even Spiral Abyss. This buff, however, is only given to the six Opening Cast members, and it’s called the Fantastical Blessing.

You can check the current blessing when you reach the Opening Cast screen at the start of the performanceby clicking on the option at the top right side. These buffs are applied when one of the cast members joins your active party.

Imaginarium Theater Rewards

While Imaginarium Theater might seem difficult at first glance due to the difficult tasks, it’s not as hard to beat it just enough to get all the rewards. Essentially, thereward you can get from the Theater is tied to you beating the act, not to you fulfilling all the tasks and getting all the Stellas within it.

Moreover, you’ll get two types of rewards from this event. When you beat it for the first time, you’ll get the Debut Performance rewards, whichinclude up to 1,100Primogemsamong various EXP materials and Mora. Other than these rewards, you can also get Performance Tour rewards with the same conditions.

Performance Tour rewardsreset at the start of every month.

With these, you may get up to 620 Primogems, EXP materials, Talent materials, Mora, and Toy Medal. The final currency is exclusive to Imaginarium Theater, and you can talk to Wolfy to exchange it for Thespian Tricks. These areessentially poses for certain charactersthat can be used during the camera mode.
