Black Myth: Wukonghas a dizzying number of boss fights for you to tackle, with three in the game’s first hour alone. With the lack of tools at your disposal, and the fact you’re still getting used to your squishy monkey body, these bosses can pack a punch if you go in unprepared.
Guangzhi is one of these bosses, a wolfman who’s quick on his feet and even quicker with his spear. His weapon is also doused in fire, making him pretty tricky to deal with so early in the game. We’re here to help cool things down though, and you’ll have Guangzhi down faster than you can say “good boy.”

How To Prepare For Guangzhi’s Boss Fight
There are a couple of things you may do before stepping into Guangzhi’s arena to make things considerably easier for yourself. Firstly, if you head to the area’s nearby shrine, you canpurchase yourself someBody-Cooling Powderwith some of your Will.
Not only does thisincrease your resistance to fire, but it will also remove the fire debuff that Guangzhi’s weapon is excellent at applying. They don’t cost that much Will to purchase, but just be aware thatyou’ll only be able to buy six of them.

If you find yourself short of Will, you can either batter some of the local enemies around a bit or sell you gold scraps for a tidy little sum.
you may also make yourself harder to hit byinvesting some Sparks in the skill tree. Guangzhi is very quick, and you’ll be dodging around a lot,so acquiring the skill that makes your dodges use less stamina, or increasing your stamina in general, is a good idea. Improving your health is always helpful too.

How To Beat Guangzhi
Now that you may zip around the arena just as deftly as Guangzhi, and you’re stocked with some appropriate medicines, we can finally start trying to take him down. Guangzhi’s arena is relatively small in comparison to the quick moves he has, andyou’ll often find yourself back against the wall if you dodge around with no real purpose.
Guangzhi has quite a lot of moves at close range and at distance, with most of his distant attacks designed to narrow the gap between both of you with speed. His close-range attacks are pretty tricky to deal with, and include multiple swings for you to dodge.

Thankfully,a few of his moves leave him wide open to counter-attacks, so taking down Guangzhi is all about recognizing those moves, dodging them, and striking back with a full light combo.
Counter
Run And Slash
Guangzhi will ready himself, thenrun and jump towards the player. After the jump, he will perform three slashes, followed by a pause, then a final big slash.
Wait until Guangzhi leaves the ground andthen dodge through him. Then run or dodge backwards toavoid the follow-up slashes.
Spear Jumps
Guanghzi will hop onto his spear andjump towards the player three times, followed by a pause, and then a final, harder jump strike.
Fairly simple to dodge asthe attacks don’t have huge hitboxes. Just a matter of getting the rhythm of his spear jumping down anddodging in any direction.
Quick Slashes
He’llstand his spear vertically alongside his body, then slice through the player at speed, followed up quickly bya second identical slice.
Wait until Guangzhi puts his spear in the vertical position and thendodge through him. You’ll then need to dodge forwards again quickly afterward.
Spinning Attack
Hops backwards slightly and thenperforms a flaming spin attack towards the player, followed by a little slice at the end to catch out any counter-attacks.
Wait for the jump backwards and thendodge through the spinning attack. It looks like you have the opportunity to run in to attack, butwait for him to finish with his little swipebefore rushing in.
Boomerang Attack
Spins backwards and thenthrows his weapon at the player, which can thenstrike again when it returnsto him.
Wait for the spin backwards and thendodge left or rightto avoid the return of the spear.Do not dodge through it.
Slash And Dash
Guangzhi will perform two slashes, pause, and thenquickly dash at the playerand perform two more slashes.
Dodge backwards to avoid the first two slashes and thendodge through his dash and back away quicklyto avoid the second set of slashes
Three slashes in quick succession
Easy to get away from, simply keep dodging backwards.
Backflip Slash
Guangzhi will perform several spins backwards and then backflips into the air, after which hequickly lunges at the player with a powerful slash.
Wait for Gaungzhi to finish his theatrics and hang in the air, thendodge forwards through his lunge.
Most of these attacks arevery quick, but rhythmic. A lot of work to beat Guangzhi is all about recognizing the move that’s about to come out, and thendodging rhythmically through his attacks, which will then leave him open to your own.
Guangzhi Strengths And Weaknesses
Guangzhi is definitelyat his strongest and most unpredictable when you’re up close and personal. His attacks that are trickier to dodge and quick almost always come out when you’re next to him, andhis attacks from further away are very clearly telegraphed.
With that in mind,Guangzhi is much less threatening at a distance, and while he does have some moves that can hit hard if you fail to dodge through them, they’re much easier to see coming. A lot of these attacks also leave Guangzhiwide open to a full light combo, which will stagger him and give you some respite.
Once you take down Guangzhi, you’ll have theRed Tidestransformation, which lets you briefly turn into him, so it’s worthgetting familiar with his moveset as it will be yours soon.
It’s also worth keeping in mind that you havean extremely powerful tool inImmobilize. It’s given to you right at the start of the game and will be your best friend throughout, so make sure touse it as often as you can against Guangzhi, preferably just after he’s finished a long attacking combo. With all this in mind, you should have Guangzhi looking like a puppy pretty soon.
