Guangmou’s attacks are not too dangerous, being generally forgiving for mistakes and clearly telegraphed.

Your primary concern will betwo attacks:

Both of these attacks candeal exceptional damage whilebuilding up your Poison meterquickly. Being hit with the latter will almost be a guarantee of becoming poisoned.

Whilepoisoned, you will take residual damagefor several seconds. At this point in the game, curing it isn’t an option (nor recommended for resource reasons), so youronly way to face it is prevention.

The best way of preventing poison is to learn Guangmou’s attacks, sorefer to the chart above.

Otherwise, hisspiritual attacks are only dangerous for their ability to staggeryou into attacks from his snacks or to build with his other hits.

Keep in mind thathis projectiles can be deflected with your spin attack, opening you up for some nice combos if you have the stamina to maintain it.

How To Defeat Guangmou

Guangmou will begin every fight sequence with his Spiritual Onslaught. You candeflect this with your spin attack or simply dodgethrough them.

Either way,he’ll typically teleport behind youfor a follow-up attack, so don’t let him get the better of you.

Before entering this fight, ensure yourGall GemSoak is equippedon your Gourd. With this, your Poison resistance will be higher.

Guangmou’s teleportations can make getting good combos on him a bit tricky, but this also means you have ample time tocharge your Smash-stance attacks.

Your best openingsto get these attacks will be:

We recommend if you haven’t already, taking the upgradethat allows you tocharge your strong attacks while dashing. This will improve your fight experience.

The primary problem you’ll have with Guangmou is closing the distance as he has good ranged options and a very dangerous Poison Mist Breath to watch out for in melee.

If you’re struggling with getting good damage on him, observe these tips:

Don’t worry about taking any curesif you get Poisoned. It isn’t worth the waste of resources so early in the game and a lack of opportunity to safely take them. We do warn, however, thatPoison will continue to deal damage during cutscenes.

We included that in our first-attempt video above for both a laugh and an example. If you die from Poison during the ending cutscene, do not worry; you can still receive your rewards fromGuangmouwhen you return to the arena.

Eventually, Guangmou will be put to rest, and you’ll have the ability tosteal his spirit. With his spirit, you cansummon his snakes into battleand drasticallyincrease your Poison resistance.

As you collect his spirit, you’ll alsogain these rewards:

With all of these in hand, you can now say you’ve reached the halfway point of this adventure’s starting area. The difficulty only spirals up from here.

As you venture forth, we recommend (if you haven’t already) to stop at the Shrine and pick up theWandering Wightspirit in your “Retrieve Spirits” tab.
