WithFinal Fantasy 16, the series took an approach quite unlike anything it had tried before. With RPG mechanics and tactical combat left to the wayside, the game instead went for full-on character action combat, and mostly succeeds, though ends up being packed with side content more trivial than the series has ever seen.

The Rising Tide DLC on the other hand rectifies many of those issues in its runtime, which is quite admirable considering its length. How long is that though, you ask? Well, it’s a whole lot longer than the previous DLC, though it’ll be quite a while until you can access the land of Mysidia.

When Can You Access The Rising Tide DLC?

Like Echoes of the Fallen before it, you can’t access any part of the Rising Tide DLCuntil you’ve almost finished the main game itself. Considering the base game will take youapproximately 60-70 hoursfor an average playthroughbased on our own estimates, it’s a significant time investment before you can even start the second DLC.

After that point, however, once youcomplete the Where There’s A Will and Priceless side quests, you’re all set to go! There will be a new letter for you to view from Clive’s desk that sends you off on your new adventure.

How Long Does It Take To Beat The Rising Tide DLC?

The Rising Tide is asignificantly longer venture than Echoes of the Fallen, thoughnothing that will take an absurd amount of timeout of your week. Courtesy ofHowLongToBeat, here’s an estimate of how long it will take you to cover everything in The Rising Tide DLC:

Clearly, that’s not exceptionally long, though it does come witha healthy amount of side contentthat feels more involved than most of that which is seen in the base game. Plus getting to have another climactic Eikon showdown is always a great incentive to return to Final Fantasy 16.
