Geoff Keighley has gotten ahead of the inevitable disappointment and confirmed thatHollow Knight: Silksongwon’t be shown duringGamescomOpening Night Live.

It’s been a very sleepy Summer season for gaming, but that’s all about to change in afew days thanks to Gamescom Opening Night Live, which goes live on August 20.Although there are a bunch of upcoming gamesthat we’re all hoping will show up (Kingdom Hearts 4, come on Geoff), there’s one that everyone’s got their fingers crossed for - Hollow Knight: Silksong.

It’s been an incredibly long road for Hollow Knight fans eversince Silksong was announced all the way back in 2019. Aside from an infamous trailer atXbox’s Summer Showcase that promised it would release in 2023(it didn’t), we’ve barely seen anything of Silksong, something that fans hoped would finally change on Tuesday.

Hollow Knight: Silksong Won’t Be At Gamescom This Year

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that sadly isn’t going to happen.Opening Night Live host Geoff Keighley has spent the past few weeks revealingwhich games were going to be shown off during the event, includingMarvel Rivals, Dune: Awakening, andDragon Ball: Sparking Zero. Keighley took a different tact earlier today, though, as he chose to reveal something thatwon’tbe at ONL.

Over on Twitter, Geoff Keighley randomly decided to break a million hearts at once by confirming once and for all thatHollow Knight: Silksong won’t be shown during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live showcase. Keighley shared a picture of the Knight wearing clown makeup, which has become a symbol of disappointment for Hollow Knight fans over the years.

It’s looking increasingly unlikely that Silksong won’t release in 2024.Maybe that Xbox store listing claiming it was launching in the year 9998 was right all along.

Keighley explained that Silksong won’t be at Gamescom this year because Team Cherry is “still cooking”, just like it has been for the past few years since the game was revealed. While it is a bit disappointing to hear that Silksong won’t be shown off and is skipping a major showcase yet again, it is better to know going in and not spend the whole time with your fingers crossed for it to show up.
