Before you may attempt Void Intercept battles on Hard difficulty inThe First Descendant, you must first defeat the Hanged Man boss on Normal mode. This fight is the only Void Intercept boss on Normal that cannot be cleared solo, forcing you to coordinate with others to complete this mission.
This is due to a forced wipe mechanic that requires multiple players to counter. If you’re looking to delve into the endgame but are stuck on this boss, fear not. This guide will explain how to defeat the Hanged Man and prevent its red vial wipe mechanic. But before we explain the mechanics of the fight, let’s first go over the Hanged Man’s stats and what to bring for this mission.

Neutral
Very Weak
The Hanged Man is the last Void Intercept boss you’ll fight on Normal difficulty, and it’s easily the hardest.Due to its unique mechanics, the Hanged Mancannotbe cleared solo. You need at least two people to defeat this boss, preferably a full squad.
Electric Resistance is also mandatory for this fight. You will need at least 3,100 Electric resistance to mitigate this boss' immense damage output. To prevent one shots, you’ll also wantIncreased HPandIncreased DEFmodules on your Descendant. Max both modules out if you can. Paired with some external modules with +HP and +DEF stats, you should be able to survive most of the Hanged Man’s attacks.

As for defeating the colossus, this boss is weak to Toxin damage.Any weapon module that grants Toxin damage works exceptionally well here, as doesFreynawith her poison-themed kit. Her ultimate makes short work of the Hanged Man’s frenzied mechanic, and her second ability makes surviving the myriad of AoE attacks a little bit easier.
The Hanged Man is weak toCrushdamage, which includes machine guns, scout rifles, and sniper rifles.

Hanged Man Mechanics
As with most Void Intercepts, your goal is tokill the Hanged Man in under ten minutes. The start of the fight works as you’d expect.Use the Ecive scanner to mark its weakpoints.Any damage to these zones will deal weakpoint damage and slowly chip away at the armor plate’s HP. When it glows yellow, you can grapple onto it and deliver a finishing blow, stunning the boss for a few seconds. This is how you’ll deal damage when not juggling mechanics.
How To Drain The Red Vials
Right under the Hanged Man is a collection of vials that will slowly fill with blood throughout the course of the fight. If these vials fill completely, the mission automatically fails. This is a hard wipe mechanic that occurs roughlythree minutesinto the fight. The only way to stop it is bygrabbing the red cube at the base of the vial structure.Designate someone on your team to be your cube runner.
Holding the cube significantly reduces your movement speed and restricts all weapon and ability usage. You’ll need to rely on your grappling hook to avoid incoming attacks.
Picking up the cube will delay the wipe mechanic indefinitely, but this will also trigger the Hanged Man’s frenzied state. While in this state, the Hanged Man is impervious to all incoming damage and will unleash a beam attack from its mouth every few seconds. You must destroy the battery in the Hanged Man’s mouth to stun it.This weakpoint fully repairs itself if the beam attack goes off, so you only have a few seconds to break it. Teamshooting is required.
So long as the cube is actively being held, destroying the battery will drain the red vials by 50%.You can now put the cube back into the vial structure to clear the Hanged Man’s frenzied state, resuming the fight as normal. Beware that the vials will start to charge again once the cube is back in place. If you can’t kill the boss in time, you’ll need to repeat this process again.
Notable Attacks
The Hanged Man has its fair share of AoE attacks throughout the fight that you’ll need to avoid. There are three notable attacks in this fight:
In other words:use your grappling hook to avoid any lightning attacks.Descendants with movement abilities, such as Kyleand Viessa, shouldn’t struggle as much with dodging these attacks. Stay away from any damaging effects, shoot the weakpoints on the boss, and break its mouth battery while enraged. Do all that under the time limit, and you’ll emerge victorious.
