Summary
Guilty Gear Strive’s fourth season of DLC has leaked ahead of its announcement atEVO 2024, revealing that the series' first-ever guest character is none other than Lucy fromCyberpunk: Edgerunners.
Over the past few generations of fighting games, one major trend has taken the genre by storm - guest characters. Whether it’sHomelander in Mortal Kombat 1, Sonic in Super Smash Bros. Brawl,or Negan in Tekken 7, it’s clear that fighting fans can’t get enough of seeing beloved characters crossover to another universe to beat the snot out of its well-known residents.
Although it’s true that almost every mainline fighting game series has dipped its toes into crossover characters, there are a few that have remained hesitant. One great example of this is Guilty Gear, which has never had a guest character before and seemed like it wasn’t going to bend the knee for Strive. That clearly isn’t the case anymore, though.
Guilty Gear Strive Season 4 Reveals Lucy From Cyberpunk Edgerunners
Earlier today,Guilty Gear Strive fans discovered that the trailer for the game’s fourth season of DLC had been uploaded to YouTubeearly by accident, seemingly ahead of a reveal at EVO 2024.The trailer revealed that the fourth season will introduce 3v3 mode as a free update, but it also detailed every character coming as part of the season pass.
The most interesting of these (no offence, Dizzy) is by far the confirmation that Guilty Gear isgetting its first-ever guest character in the form of Lucyna Kushinada from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. We don’t get to see any gameplay of Lucy, but it’s confirmed that she’ll be released at some point in 2025 as the last character of the season pass.
I’m sure that a lot of Guilty Gear fans have other guest characters in mind, but having a surprising pick like Lucy really makes her and the game stand out. Who knows, maybe her introduction will open up the floor for more guest fighters?
Outside of Lucy’s shock appearance, Guilty Gear Strive’s fourth season pass will also add Dizzy and Venom as returning playable characters alongside a brand-new one called Unika. Dizzy is slated for release in October, while Venom is set for Early 2025. Meanwhile, Unika and Lucy are both just said to be in “2025”, so it looks like we’re in for quite a wait.
