Summary
Grasshopper Manufacture is currently working on a brand-new action game, according to studio founder Goichi ‘Suda51’ Suda. The legendary developer is also interested in developing a sequel to 2007’s action-adventure gameKiller7.
Grasshopper uploaded a41-minute ‘Direct’to the studio’s YouTube channel. While most of the video focuses on the upcomingShadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered which releases at the end of October, fans were provided with some morsels of information about Grasshopper’s other projects at the video’s conclusion.
Suda alluded to a new game currently being developed by Grasshopper. “We’re making a game at Grasshopper right now. To provide a bit of info…” Suda begins, before trailing off to ask a producer if he’s allowed to talk about it. “We’re making an action game, it’s even got a story. We’re making it now so give us a little more time and we just might be able to announce something this year. I hope you all look forward to it,” he says, with a bow.
Killer11, Or Something
Before this interaction, Shinji Mikami, producer and designer on Shadows of the Damned and a renowned Japanese developer in general, revealed that he’d love to see Suda remake Killer7. This caught Suda by surprise before he revealed that it was something that had crossed his mind.
“Someday we may just see a Killer7 sequel,” he reveals. “Or a complete edition… I’d rather make a complete edition first. First a complete edition, and then Killer11…” Mikami teases Suda for his strange choice of title and adds that a complete edition might be kind of lame. “I don’t know, Killer7: Something probably, maybe Killer 7: Beyond,” Suda responds. “Fans would probably love a complete edition, that could actually be doable.”
Killer7 did previously get a remaster of sorts back in 2018, but it was largely panned by fans and critics for making the game worse.
The rest of the Direct involved the roundtable discussing Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered and featured the game’snewest trailerwhere we see Garcia Hotspur in action versus his demonic opposition.
Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered releases on October 31 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
