Summary

Sony Santa Monica, the studio best known for theGod of Warseries, appears to be working on a new IP. That’s at least according to a developer from the studio, who mentions a new project on their LinkedIn page.

Asspottedby ResetEra user Angie, a developer at Sony Santa Monica mentions this new IP when detailing their work experience. Here, they say that they were hired by the company relatively recently to work on the project, suggesting that a non-God of War-related game is in the works.

This reference to a new IP is found on a LinkedIn profile, with the relevant section reading as follows: “Santa Monica Studios presented the opportunity of coming back as Character Supervisor, looking after the entire Character Development pipeline, on their new IP, so here I am, thrilled to be back, working again with the crew and pushing Characters in videogames together.”

It’s been rumoured for years now that Santa Monica Studio’s creative director, Cory Barlog, is working on a new space-themed IP.We first covered this all the way back in 2019, but nothing has come of it yet. Just to get us speculating some more, Barlog’s current banner photo on Twitter is a parody of a panel from The Watchmen, which depicts himself in space. Now with this reference to a new IP on LinkedIn, it’s looking more likely thatsomethingunrelated to God of War is happening.

Of course, it’s also looking pretty likely that the studio has another God of War game in the works. As we covered back in April, the team was hiring new devs and mentioned that knowledge of God of War (2018) andGod of War Ragnarokas a bonus skill to bring to the team.

Right now, Santa Monica Studio isn’t ready to reveal whatever it is that it’s working on. With God of War Ragnarok’s DLC and PC port out of the way, we’ll have to wait and see if the team can finally unveil one of the projects that it seems to be working on.
