Summary
I know it, you know it, Kratos has definitely had more than two children. Sure, the only ones we know of are Atreus and Calliope (the less said about her the better), but the earlyGod of Wargames had Kratos going on so many sordid adventures that he has to have made at least two or three more crotch goblins that we just don’t know of. It’s not like Ancient Greece was at the forefront of birth control.
However, not all God of War fans are of the same mind, and a debate ensued earlier this week on the official subreddit for the series about exactly how many children Kratos could possibly have had across all the games. It wasReddit user Aristaeeus who brought up the topic, and while we know Kratos has bedded multiple women during his time in Greece (16 to be specific), many are arguing that this doesn’t necessarily mean that he created a child each time.

They are correct, of course, as you have… various methods (all of which are elegantly described in detail by many other users) of having relations with someone without the risk of pregnancy, though user Personal_Click1446 rightly points out that his attitude in the earlier games makes it hard to believe he’d really care about getting a woman pregnant. He’s a loving father right now, but that’s only after a lot of soul-searching.
We also run into another problem when trying to figure out how many kids Kratos had, that being the whole “I destroyed Greece to try and kill my father” thing. Any demigod children that Kratos made were probably wiped out by the countless calamities that befell Greece in God of War 3, such as the massive flood that occurred after the death of Poseidon. Users such as Ray-Ravenheart and BirdieBoiiiii think that he probably did have a few, but they were wiped out.
There is one person that Kratos has a fling with that could protect a child through all that carnage though, and that’s Aphrodite. There are multiple users, like RomaInvicta2003 and IrinaNekotari, that think Kratos could have possibly had a child with Aphrodite (despite the whole brother sister thing) and wish that we could get a game in which an illegitimate child sought out Kratos for revenge after the destruction of their homeland.
Santa Monica didrecently start hiring for a new God of War game, so you never know where the story’s direction could go.
In any case, the number of potential children that Kratos had is a question we’ll never get the answer to, unfortunately, though it feels like he must have had at least one more alongside Atreus and Calliope. He’s had kids with both of the women he ended up hitched to, so he’s clearly a very fertile guy, but we can probably assume most of them were washed away in Greece .Maybe David Jaffe would’ve preferred one of those to the one child Kratos has left.
