Star Wars is no stranger to the gaming industry, and we have one more entry in its collection withStar Wars Outlaws,a game where you play as the reckless Kay Vess in her journey to get rich in the galaxy’s underworld. You sneak or blast your way out of trouble and choose your allegiances carefully.
Suppose you enjoy this third-person shooter experience and maybe want something similar to play afterward. In that case, there are a few games that give you similar gameplay, have similar mechanics, or just offer more of this amazing galaxy that is far, far away. What to play after (or before, or along with, your call) playing Star Wars Outlaws, then?
While we haven’t got any recent entries that haven’t been remastered or similar, the Tomb Raider series holds up extremely well. Whether you want something with similar gameplay, such as the reboot trilogy that started in 2013, or something more distinct, the series has a lot to offer.
We mainly recommend Tomb Raider (2013), followed by Rise of the Tomb Raider and then Shadow of the Tomb Raider, as they are a trilogy, work well together, and you’ll have multiple games rather than just one. The classics are also worth it if you enjoy retro games.
If you want something similar to Tomb Raider - and Star Wars Outlaws, obviously - you may also try the Uncharted series. Between their combat and their exploration, these games can give you a different game while keeping the familiarity you see here.
You also have the bonus of going through four games with a marvelous story, keeping you engaged all the way - assuming you enjoy games with a narrative focus, that is.
The Last of Us parts one and two won’t give you a similar vibe, as they don’t have climbing mechanics, aren’t futuristic, and the story is way darker. They’re mainly here for one reason: gameplay, as they’re one of the best third-person shooters out there.
Still, asNaughty Dog’s magnum opus, you may still enjoy these games a lot. Even if only the core gameplay feels similar, everything here is extremely well-designed. The melee combat feels better here, too.
Let’s face it: we could just recommend a bunch of Star Wars games to you, as you’ll likely be interested in them since you are interested in Outlaws. However, sincewe already have lists for Star Wars games,we’ll just talk about our top recommendation: the Star Wars Jedi series.
The gameplay is a hack n' slash with elements similar to Dark Souls in a way, meaning it won’t be the same experience in terms of gameplay. But the setting is the same, and you get to dive into the other half of the Star Wars galaxy: The Jedi. In a way, these games complement each other quite well, and their time period is close, even though Outlaws is a bit further into the future.
You probably have already played Grand Theft Auto 5 at least once by this point, but few games depict the outlaw lifestyle like the GTA series. Sure, you’ll trade speeders and blasters for cars and guns, but GTA is famous for its quality, and five is the peak of its quality.
You’ll also have a fun story to go through, and there’s a multiplayer mode in case you want to experience the mayhem with friends or just be utterly chaotic with everyone you find out there.
The criminal underworld of Star Wars and the planets where these crimes usually take place have always been inspired by Western movies. So why not try a game that is also inspired by Western movies where you play as an outlaw?
Set at the very end of the Wild West era, when law and order collide with gangs of outlaws, Red Dead Redemption 2 is another one of those classics where everything, from gameplay to story, fits perfectly in a world that is way darker than Star Wars, too, in case you prefer that.
One of the best RPG series of all time, Mass Effect’s gameplay mixes third-person shooters with RPG elements, and sets it all in a universe that borrows heavily from both Star Wars and Star Trek, but is also its own completely different and unique galaxy, with new species, planets, and problems going around.
Mass Effect can also get more violent compared to Star Wars, and you also get to make big choices that impact the narrative and your companions. They can even end up dying because of you.
Okay, maybe you don’t want darker games. Then what about a space adventure filled with silly characters while also being one of the best-written entries here? Guardians of the Galaxy is a game that was overlooked when released, so we highly encourage you to go forthis underrated gem.
You’ll play as Star-Lord and have to learn how to synergize with your team as you learn more about yourself and your allies. You also have a few choices that impact key moments in the narrative.
After a very rocky launch, Cyberpunk 2077 has grown into a classic that feels like a more mature take on a few topics that are similar to Star Wars, but it also has its own style, world, and story. We also lean a bit more on RPG elements such as character creation, stats, and heavier choices.
Still, you have a perfect mix of more futuristic shooters with a more grounded environment for you to play around with, and there are many different ways you may tackle this game’s challenges. Plus, Keanu Reeves is here.
