Summary

Fortnite’s most recent update introduced several new quests to unlock Magneto’s comic book skin, but they’re not exactly going down well with fans who are saying they’re some of the game’s “worst” missions.

One of the biggest surprises of Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 3 was the reveal that its battle pass includes a unique skin for Magneto that’s themed around the post-apocalyptic Wrecked season. Epic rarely gets the chance to make unique Marvel skins, so seeing a character as beloved as Magneto get a new design was a real treat.

Of course, if you know anything about Fortnite then youprobably figured that we’d get the classic comic book design alongside the wasteland design. This was proven right yesterday, as a bunch of new quests (as well as Magneto’s gauntlets) were added to the game thatplayers need to complete in order to unlock Wastelander Magneto and his classic design. It’s just a shame that they totally suck.

Fortnite Players Really Don’t Like Magneto’s Power Quests

Whenever Fortnite adds quests to unlock a season’s secret Battle Pass character, they’re usually pretty simple to beat and don’t take much time at all. That isn’t the case for Magneto’s quests however, as the second page in particular is giving players a lot of trouble with some of its gauntlet-related requirements.

The first page is easy enough and just requires you to visit the Weapon X lab, find the Gauntlets and use them to fly around, and then smack some vehicles with it, but it’s the second page (which unlocks the comic book skin) where things get tough. To clear this page, you need to eliminate five enemies with the gauntlets, deal 2,000 damage when one story above the enemy, configure three Rift Beacons, and, most painful of all, block 200 hits using the Magneto Gauntlets.

That might sound simple enough, but it’s a pretty hefty requirement for just one of the quests needed for the skin and requires you to not only find the Gaunlets (which everyone else will be hunting for) but also specifically use them for defence.Over on the Fortnite subreddit, Redditor LostFromLight shared an image of the quest and called it “the worst quest ever” for how specific it is.

The real challenge from these quests seems to come from actually finding the Magneto Gauntlets,as a lot of players have noted how rare they are.

In fairness, while the post has got a lot of up-votes from similarly annoyed players, there are several comments which point out that it’s not that difficult if you try and fight NPCs or goad them into shooting you. Some players also pointed out that you can actually beat the quest if you make your teammates purposefully shoot you. Of course, that requires having teammates who will listen, which might not be that simple.
