Summary
Since its initial release in 2017,Fortnitehas established itself as one of the preeminent games in the live-service genre. Over the course of its existence, it’s become a quasi Metaverse, where players dressed as a variety of pop culture icons can congregate together.
Impact aside, Fortnite has had some seriously awesome weapons over the years. And with it being a live-service game, many of those weapons have rotated in and out, much to the dismay of hardcore fans. Those same fans took to Reddit to discuss of all the weapons that have graced Epic Games' shooter, which of them would they’d like to see permanently added to the game. The results vary, but it’s a fun trip down memory lane nonetheless.
Dual Pistols, Gojo’s Hollow Purple Attack And Shotguns Galore
Chief among the responses were the dual pistols that first appeared in Season 4. That weapon has since been vaulted, but it’s never left the hearts of the Fortnite faithful. “I always feel like I’m better than I am when I use the dualies,“one user wrote.
It wouldn’t be a Fortnite thread without mentioning the original tactical shotgun, and fans have been dreaming of a permanent add for ages. “The blue tac was the GOAT in chapter 2,“one user reminisced, and we’re inclined to agree. That particular weapon was a huge staple in the early aughts of Fortnite. The original pump shotgun was also mentionedas another iconic weapon of Fortnite’s past.
While not a traditional weapon by any stretch of the imagination, gamers are still holding out hope that Jujutsu Kaisen’s Satoru Gojo’s Hollow Purple attack could make a comeback. The mythic attack lasted just one season, but its impact, both literally and figuratively, is still being felt. “The purple hollow was my favorite mythic ever, and I wasn’t even a JJK fan, it was just funny to send a freaking Nuke,” a user lamented.
And, of course, it wouldn’t be a Reddit thread without someone completely ignoring the topic at hand. Case in point, this user who wants to see the med spray return to the game. That obviously isn’t a weapon, but their passion cannot be denied. Andanother user requested the FlowBerry Fizz, which, again, is not a weapon but super helpful in-game.
As a final bit of nostalgia, one user suggested that the hand grenades make a permanent return. “They are an og weapon staple, and it’s not overpowered or anything so,“the user wrote in part. That was followed up byanother user who already laid out their in-game strategy, writing, “Put them back to 100 damage and let me spam them from 68 meters….”
Perhaps down the line there could be a mode with all OG weapons and items. It’ll certainly be broken as all heck, but the combination of nostalgia and fun would be enough to overcome any warts.
