Summary
Ever since Epic Games made Fortnite OG a thing back in 2023 and promptly put it to bed after about a month of service, fans have been clamoring for its return. Now, it looks like that mysticalFortniteOG Chapter 2 is in-fact real, and it’s coming a lot sooner than you may think.
According to Fortnite leaker Shiina, Fortnite OG Chapter 2 will be released on November 2. That would make it roughly a year after the launch of Fortnite OG Chapter 1. And for those who want a mathematical breakdown, that’s just 79 days away. Like we said, closer than you may think.
News of Fortnite OG Chapter 2’s potential release comes after dataminers found that OG Chapter 2 was indeed still in the works, even after Epic added “Reload” to the game’s play options. That was in June, however, and since then, it still remained a question whether there would be a second go-round.
Now that question has been answered, and what’s more, the long-rumored Snoop Dogg collaboration will be coming the same day. In other words, gamers will get to play Fortnite OG with the OG rapper himself. We see what you’re doing, Epic.
Fortnite OG Was A Rousing Success
It’s no secret that the original Fortnite OG was a massive success. If you don’t believe us, then take Epic’s word for it. Last November, they revealed that over 44.7 million players jumped into Fortnite OG. That made it the single biggest day ever in the history of the free-to-play battle royale.
Not even a Travis Scott concert hosted in-game could garner that much attention. (For the record,it had just 12.3 million people, which is still a lot but not OG levels). And it’s not just because nostalgia is a hell of a hook, because it is, but rather,OG was everything fans had hoped a mode would include. That meant unvaulted weapons, map points and more.
Fortnite OG was even so popular that Activision has reportedly made plans to bring back Verdansk in Warzone early next year. The reason? To capture even a smidge of the player base that turned up for Fortnite OG. And if Fortnite OG Chapter 2 is any near as successful as Chapter 1, then we’ll see what ramifications it has for the gaming industry. Until then, we will wait for the winter.
