Summary
A few reliableFortniteleakers have seemingly uncovered a first look at an update to the official Fortnite website that adds a working version of the game’s Item Shop.
If you’ve been as deep into the Fortnite trenches as I have, then I’m sure there have been a few times when, after staring at the clock like a hungry Gremlin, you’ve logged on after midnight just to see what’s new in the Item Shop. I’m not proud of it, but it’s definitely happened when I’ve been looking forward to an original skin or crossover.
That minor annoyance might be making its way to some scary spending habits, however. It’s been rumoured for some time that Epic was updating Fortnite’s website to add functionality for the Item Shop, which means that players wouldn’t even need to boot up Fortnite to buy skins and see what’s up for sale that day. It looks like that’s going to be a reality soon.
Fortnite’s Rumoured Item Shop Website Looks To Be Real
As highlighted by reliable Fortnite insider ShiinaBR, a first look at the official Fortnite Item Shop website has been revealedthanks to NotPaloleaks and ESFortniteBR. A short clip shared on Twitter shows the leakers going through an early version of the website, which works exactly how you’d expect it to.
I won’t lie, going through this website on mobile looks like it’s going to be a big pain with all of its different categories and drop-down menus. Here’s hoping there’s an easier-to-navigate mobile page.
If the leak is real, the site does actually appear to be nearly finished, as itfeatures the recent Pirates of the Caribbean crossover and has all of the prices right for the included items. The website version of the shop also requires users to sign in to their Epic account before purchasing anything, which obviously makes sense.
Beyond that, there’s nothing about the official website version of the Fortnite Item Shop that stands out on its own. It does just look like the version that we see in-game translated to a web version that should make spending V-Bucks painfully easy.God forbid they ever add some new Dragon Ball skins, because having easy access to the Item Shop is going to bankrupt me.
Epic hasn’t formally announced the Item Shop yet so we don’t know when it’s set to release, but it does appear to be in a pretty final state and shouldn’t be too far until it’s released to everyone.
