Summary
Final Fantasy 14director and producerNaoki Yoshidaapologised last week to players after “issues” arose inDawntrail’s early access build, worst of all being transition freezes onXbox. Eight days later the problem hasn’t been resolved, even after a weekend of maintenance.
As reported byEurogamer, Square Enix explained that it had “taken preliminary steps” to resolve the issue. However, despite working alongside Microsoft to investigate and iron out the problem, it continues to crop up.

It is highly likely that it will take time to fully uncover and address the issue.
“Our current progress involves rigorous testing of each potential cause of the issue and verifying the impact of each measure,” writes Square Enix. “However, it is highly likely that it will take time to fully uncover and address the issue, so we have applied a version of the process that we believe may be effective to the public servers.

“Therefore, while we have not yet received the final confirmation that the issue has been fully addressed, we will continue to monitor the situation in the public environment after the patch has been applied.”
Square Enix Is Granting Free Game Time To Xbox Players
As these freezes on Xbox—along with other reported bugs—continue, Square Enix isextending the free game time.
Yoshida directly addressed the Xbox community, saying that he “would like to deeply apologise for the serious freezing issues”, adding that it is a “priority fix” right now.
From July 10, players witha full registered version of Final Fantasy 14 and an active subscriptionwill be granted eight days of game time (“for a total of ten days”). The reason for the slight delay is because of the “large number of service accounts involved”.
