Summary
Fan favourite characters can often surprise creators, as it’s hard to predict what will resonate with fans when you’re making a game. Better yet, a beloved character might end up being one the creator doesn’t like at all, as is the case withFinal Fantasy 14’s recentDawntrailexpansion.
Honey B. Lovely has alotof fans, although that in itself isn’t too surprising. She’s a woman who wears a cute bee dress, what else do you want? Well, as it happens, that isn’t enough for the MMO’s producer Naoki Yoshida, who doesn’t like her at all.

Yoshi-P Isn’t Fond Of “Characters Like Honey B. Lovely”
Speaking to TheGamer’s Meg Pelliccio at Gamescom, Yoshida - also known as Yoshi-P - shared his thoughts on Honey B’s popularity.
“Characters like Honey B. Lovely, I would say I’m not so fond of them," says Yoshi-P.
Better yet, he really doesn’t like the heart symbol she makes with her hands. “I really don’t likethisso much”, he said, emulating it himself. “But I’ve seen that everyone seems to really like her, and that’s good to hear.”
This wasn’t the only surprising tidbit to come from the interview. Yoshi-P also revealed that the Great Serpent of Ronka isn’t all that popular outside of the West.
“The Serpent of Ronka, funnily enough, it’s not popular so much in Japan,” Yoshi-P reveals. “It’s more popular outside of Japan. Within the development team, there are a lot of our members who really love the Serpent of Ronka, even when it’s their own creation."
