Summary

Final Fantasy 14has had plenty of crossovers in the past, ranging from the likes ofYo-Kai Watch,Nier Automata, andMonster Hunter, to other titles in the series like Final Fantasy 13 and 15. One of the more recent crossovers saw Clive fromFinal Fantasy 16stranded in Eorzea, which had players engage in a single-player duty against Ifrit to earn an incredible Torgal mount and Clive’s threads.

It was a pretty popular crossover at the time, mostly because people could takequestionable gposes with one of Final Fantasy’s hunkiest main characters. However, it was slightly marred by the fact that Final Fantasy 16 couldn’t actually be played by a large portion of Final Fantasy 14 players due to the game’s PlayStation exclusivity.

With Final Fantasy 16 finally coming to PC this month, Final Fantasy 14 director Naoki Yoshida (affectionately referred to as Yoshi-P) was recently asked whether a second crossover would be possible to celebrate the release. In typical Yoshi-P fashion, he says via a translator that he’ll take the idea back to Final Fantasy 16’s producer to see if he likes it. Yoshi-P is Final Fantasy 16’s producer.

Final Fantasy 14’s Yoshi-P Is Teasing Another Final Fantasy 16 Crossover

He then goes on to explain that he wants to do a “much more flashy” crossover with Final Fantasy 16 in the future, though stops short of explaining what that actually means. Even though they’re pretty tongue-in-cheek, these comments pretty much confirm that another crossover will happen in the future - we just don’t know what form it will take.

Final Fantasy 16 has plenty of iconic characters to bring over, such as Jill, who is actually referenced by Clive in the first crossover. It sounds as though it won’t be a simple quest and single-player duty next time around though, and we could get some more substantial content in the next crossover.

Monster Hunter and Nier Automata have had content permanently added to the game in the past, which are the Rathalos trial and Shadowbringers Alliance Raids respectively, so it would be nice to see something similar happen with Final Fantasy 16.We know that Dawntrail’s Alliance Raids will be focused on Final Fantasy 11, but we could always get a dungeon or trial with Jill or Cid. Honestly, just give me some Dion glam and I’d be happy.
