Summary

Final Fantasy 14’s producer, Naoki Yoshida, has responded to requests for aKingdom Heartscollaboration, noting that he wants to do it but would needDisney’s permission to get it in motion.

As KFC, Mountain Dew, and Fall Guys have already proven to us in the past, Final Fantasy 14 is no stranger to crossovers and collaborations, even if they don’t always make the most sense. One series thatwouldactually fit in rather well with the world of FF14, though, is Kingdom Hearts, which is something that fans have wanted to see for a very long time.

Considering how important Final Fantasy is to Kingdom Hearts(well, not counting Kingdom Hearts 3), it makes a surprising amount of sense for Sora, Donald, Goofy, and the rest of the gang to pop up in Final Fantasy 14. It seems that Kingdom Hearts fans aren’t the only ones who see the massive potential, as Final Fantasy 14’s producer has recently admitted that he wants to see it happen just as much as we do.

Yoshi-P Wants Kingdom Hearts To Appear In Final Fantasy 14, But Says It’s Up To Disney

As shared by Twitter user aitaikimochiandoriginally reported by umadori0726, Final Fantasy 14’s producer, Naoki Yoshida, recently appeared at Japan Expo 2024 in Paris. While appearing at the event, Yoshi-P took several questions from the crowd, including one about a potential Kingdom Hearts collaboration.

When asked about Kingdom Hearts possibly appearing in Final Fantasy 14 in the future, Yoshida said that he’d like to do it, but that he’d need permission from Disney. He then jokingly (at least, I think he was joking) asked any Final Fantasy 14 players who also happened to be working at Disney to contact him.

“I would like to do it, but I need permission from Disney… If there are any FF14 players working at Disney, please contact me.”

Yoshida’s response makes it clear that a Kingdom Hearts crossover isn’t currently in the works due to licensing issues, but Yoshida’s own interest in a potential collaboration does also give some hope for it potentially happening in the future. Considering how popular Final Fantasy 14 is and how linked the series as a whole is to Kingdom Hearts, it doesn’t seem that far-fetched that Disney could be convinced to get on board.

Funnily enough, this isn’t the first time that Yoshi-P has talked about Kingdom Hearts appearing in Final Fantasy 14. In a 2020 interview with TheGamer, Yoshida admitted that it’s a tough thing to organise since Kingdom Hearts is owned by Disney and not Square Enix.
