Summary
There’s plenty of stuff to experience inFinal Fantasy 14besides the excellent story and challenging dungeons/raids. There are a lot of features that quite a lot of players don’t even touch, whether it bethe crafting and gathering side of the game, the Golden Saucer minigames and Triple Triad, or the optional Deep Dungeons that let you and a group of friends take on a very different kind of Final Fantasy 14 challenge.
When it comes to the latter, there’s quite a large community of Final Fantasy 14 players thatenjoy the challenge that comes with soloing a Deep Dungeon, something that is typically done in groups. Palace of the Dead was the first Deep Dungeon added to Final Fantasy 14, first popping up in A Realm Reborn and then expanded in Heavensward. There are 200 floors of enemies to tackle, and doing so on your own takes a great deal of skill, patience, and intricate knowledge of Deep Dungeon systems.
However, you’ll struggle to find many players as committed to the Deep Dungeon grind as Final Fantasy 14 streamer AuroraMoonx, who has not only managed to complete a solo run of Palace of the Dead over the past few days, but they did it without a Soul Crystal. If that wasn’t impressive enough, they managed to solo the dungeon as a Conjurer, a healer role that lacks the big powerful spells unlocked after upgrading to a White Mage.
AuroraMoonxposted a screenshot of their victory to their Twitter account this past Sunday, explaining that it took them a whopping two years worth of attempts to finally get a successful Conjurer solo run completed, spending over 800 hours in the process. It was their 62nd attempt that ended up being the successful one, which is a level of determination or sheer stubbornness that you can only sit back and applaud.
You can even see the grand moment for yourself if you like, as AuroraMoonx hasa four-hour-long stream on their Twitch channelof them beating floors 161 to 200. It’s a very emotional moment, which is understandable with the amount of time AuroraMoonx has invested in this achievement, and they explain that they’re just “very happy it’s done.” My floor 20 Machinist run now feels extremely inadequate.
