Summary

Final Fantasy 14is a very character-driven game, with hundreds of likable and interesting people introduced to our Warriors of Light throughout our time adventuring.Dawntrailis no exception, and fans of the game recently ran a poll to figure out which character that prominently features in the expansion is the most popular, which includes mainstays like Krile and Erenville, as well as newcomers such as Sphene and Wuk Lamat.

Unsurprisingly, it’s Erenville and Krile that take home gold and silver respectively, both of which are liked among fans and have been since Endwalker, but the deep dive into their backstories in Dawntrail appear to have increased their popularity somewhat. What is a surprise is the character that took home bronze, and while his high placing was expecteddue to everyone thirsting over him, it’s still quite baffling that Bakool Ja Ja has managed to reach third place.

Wuk Lamat in Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail.

Of course, there’s one good reason as to why he’s made it this high, and if you’re still dodging spoilers, this is your time to duck out.Bakool Ja Ja’s popularity is almost definitely down to the complete 180-degree turn his personality takes once you discover the main reasons for his action. He goes from a despicable villain that unleashes feral beasts upon innocents and squishes tacos, to a lovable himbo that is working to redeem himself, and even the devs didn’t expect him to be as popular as he is. People also think he’s hot, which helps.

Wuk Lamat Doesn’t Even Crack The Top Ten

There are some other interesting placements in the poll, as Erenville’s mother Cahciua places just outside the medals in fourth. That’s surprisingly high given she’s not even in most of the game, but yet again, her looks and the fact that she’s a Viera probably bump her significantly higher. Honey B. Lovely has also managed to sneak into the top ten, despite being a late addition in the Arcadion raids, but she immediately struck a chord with fans due to her personality and distressingly catchy theme song.

Interestingly, you’ll also notice that Wuk Lamat, who is considered Dawntrail’s main character, doesn’t even make the top ten. She sits all the way down in eleventh, sandwiched between Wuk Evu and Black Cat, another Arcadion fighter. It’s not that surprising, given that she’s often criticized for being annoyingand taking the spotlight away from our Warriors of Light, but you’d have thought she would have had enough fans to at least place above Wuk Evu and Galool Ja Ja. It really is hard being the Dawnservant’s daughter.
