Summary
Final Fantasyhas featured quite a lot of romantic relationships over the years, whether it be Leon and Rinoa inFinal Fantasy 8, Celes and Locke from Final Fantasy 6, or whatever Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith have going on inFinal Fantasy 7. Fans of the series recently voted Tidus and Yuna fromFinal Fantasy 10asthe best romantic couple in the series, which proves that not enough people have playedFinal Fantasy 9.
Zidane and Garnet (Dagger?) are unquestionably the best couple in the series (yes, I’m saying democracy is wrong), and this is an indisputable fact that evenFinal Fantasy 14recognizes. Now thatDawntrail has been released from early accessand everyone can jump into the exotic continent of Tural, those that pre-ordered the game’s digital deluxe addition are getting their bonuses, one of which is a special minion of Garnet from Final Fantasy 9.
Of course, Garnet isn’t the only character from the game to feature in Final Fantasy 14. Those that pre-ordered Dawntrail also got a Zidane minion to run around with, meaning that both the main character and the love interest of Final Fantasy 9 are now available as minions in Final Fantasy 14. That’s pretty neat in itself, but Square Enix went above and beyond to please fans of the game by having the two interact whenever they get near each other.
Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail’s Zidane And Garnet Minions Interact With Each Other
you may see the interaction above, or in motion in a tweet byTwitter user RobPlayinGames, and it sees Zidane get down on one knee in front of an emotional Garnet. It’s only a short interaction, but it’s very cute to see their relationship portrayed in a game outside of Final Fantasy 9, even if it’s in a game of the same series. Now we just need Steiner and Beatrice minions and Final Fantasy 14 will be perfect.
It might improve the mood surrounding Dawntrail at the moment anyway,as the expansion debuted to a mixed reception on Steamover a lackluster story. Main character and story focus, Wuk Lamat, is the one bearing a lot of the heat, some of it justified, and some of it horribly transphobic. Thankfully, those are in the minority, and most fans are hoping thatDawntrail will have a Stormblood redemption arcand improve with the addition of some spicy post-expansion raids.
