Summary

It’s been more than a month sinceFinal Fantasy 14’s Dawntrail expansion dropped, arriving at the perfect time as it rolled out when the video game release schedule typically dries up. If you haven’t been playing hero shooter betas or retro speedrunning viaNintendo World Championships, you’ve probably been playing Dawntrail. It’s likely not a journey you’ll be done with anytime soon either, and if you’re still playing in October, you’ll be able to do so with its soundtrack playing in the background.

Square Enixhas confirmed a physical version of Dawntrail’s OST will be released on June 15, 2025. Details about the soundtrack have only been shared onthe Japanese version of the Square siteso far, but will likely find their way onto the US site soon. Hard to imagine this soundtrack won’t be getting a worldwide release considering the success of Final Fantasy 14 and its expansions. The OST has been priced at 5,500 yen which likely means it will cost roughly $40 in the US.

Like other Final Fantasy 14 soundtracks, the Dawntrail OST will include a Blu-ray disc you may play if you’re not playing the expansion while you listen to it that includes images from the game, so the next best thing to playing it yourself. There also appear to be alternative sleeves for the OST’s case that you’ll receive for pre-ordering its soundtrack, although it’s unclear if they will be physically included with the product or if you will have to download and print them yourself.

Good Game, Good Music, Good Minion

Last but most definitely not least is an in-game bonus that comes with the soundtrack - the Wind-Up Zero Minion. FF14 fans have been expecting Zero to return, and while this isn’t exactly what they would have had in mind, at least its proof that Zero is still on the minds of the game’s developers. Unlike the sleeves, the Minion isn’t listed as a pre-order bonus. Hopefully that means it will still be included even if you buy the album after it’s released on October 30.

FromFinal Fantasy 16toFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthand now Dawntrail, the last year has been loaded for any of you who love everything from the Final Fantasy series. It might be a while before we get anything on the same level as any of those three for a while, but there are still projects to look forward to. It might be a long way off, but Square revealed this week that the third part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogywill include an even better version of Queen’s Blood. If you only have eyes for Final Fantasy 14, maybe take a peek atthe unannounced mobile game from the seriesthat just got approved in China.
