Summary

Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker is iconic for a lot of reasons, its rise from the ashes with A Realm Reborn, its decade-long narrative spanning multiple worlds, even its relentlessly positive community, but its legacy will forever be… low-poly grapes.

They were short-lived, asSquare Enix almost immediately overhauled themafter the internet at large poked fun at their jagged edges. Butthey live on, as Dawntrail pays homage to those old purple berries with its “Slab of Pink Hexagons”.

I haven’t played the expansion myself—I’m not the biggest Final Fantasy 14 head—but going by the comments on the Reddit thread which pointed out this fun little easter egg, it looks like you have to decide between the low-poly grapes and something else during one of the expansion’s quests.

Fans say that they hope Square Enix is tracking how many players pick what so that they can eventually share the stats with the community.

Final Fantasy 14 Just Got A Huge Graphics Update, But The Grapes Were Left Alone

While Final Fantasy 14’s grapes aren’taslow-poly as they were at Endwalker’s launch, they are still a flat texture stretched over a low-res 3D shape.

Dawntrail released alongside a huge graphical overhaul which has been a hit with the community, but asGame Sparknoticed, the grapes are thankfully untouched. It just wouldn’t be the same if they looked good.
