Summary

Throughout your journey inBo: Path Of The Teal Lotus, you’ll unlock eight Daruma that you can activate if you have enough tea, each of which has its own unique abilities. They all have their perfect uses, but some are definitely better than others.

Unlike Omamori, the passive buff charms, you can find most of the Daruma relatively quickly, and will have time to learn which is your favourite, but which is the best to keep equipped for any situation?

Boin Midori Forest using chomper Daruma attack in Bo Path of the Teal Lotus.

8Chomper

The first Daruma you’ll unlock is Chomper, and at its base level it will fire straight out from Bo and do some biting damage. It’s a simple ability, but because it is so quick, it’s hard to perfect. Also, early in the game, you likely won’t have much tea to be able to use it often, and by the time you have more, you’ll probably have replaced Chomper with a better Daruma.

When To Equip Chomper

When you get Chomper, it’ll be your only choice, and you might end up liking this simple ability more than some of the others in the game, but in the early-game, you’ll likely want to conserve your tea for healing.

7Kaboomaru

Kaboomaru summons a bomb which can do some pretty decent damage, but the main issue with his attack is the lack of control over where the bomb drops, and needing to double press the Daruma summon button to detonate. During intense boss encounters, using this skill takes focus, which you likely don’t have to spare.

When To Equip Kaboomaru

If you’re taking on hordes of weaker enemies and want to get rid of them quickly, this is where Kaboomaru shines. Unfortunately for this Daruma, this isn’t common in Bo: Path Of The Teal Lotus, with encounters usually being with fewer strong enemies.

6Yuki

Yuki is likely going to be one of the last Daruma you unlock, since getting this ability requires a late-game traversal skill, and the room it’s hiding in is easy to forget. Using this skill shoots up an explosive ice attack which has a good range and high damage. However, the lack of accuracy means that there are few instances where the attack range is optimal over other Daruma.

When To Equip Yuki

Similar to Kaboomaru, Yuki will work best when you have plenty of enemies surrounding you, but unlike Kaboomaru, you won’t need to detonate the attack, so that’s a bonus. However, there are still a few opportunities where you’ll need to use this specific ability.

5Jingu

Jingu can be bought at the Daruma store, and it’s a good choice if you want an ability that is sure to do damage to nearby enemies. Jingu’s flame attacks are easy to use since they home in on enemies, and it’ll be one of the best choices for enemies that are just slightly out of range.

When To Equip Jingu

For enemies or bosses that have an out-of-reach hit box, using Jingu is a great way to attack when you aren’t able to reach it yourself. Jingu is also a good choice to upgrade at the Daruma store for a simple damage increase.

4Mamori

Compared to the other Daruma, Mamori stands out for its ability being a little less aggressive, instead being a shield, perfect for when you know you won’t be able to dodge an attack. After the shield despawns, the Daruma will attack the closest enemy, perfect for one-on-one encounters.

When To Equip Mamori

If you are struggling with a certain attack an enemy does that you just can’t seem to dodge, then using Mamori is a great way to verify that you’re not taking unnecessary damage. Just make sure to get the timing right, since the shield has a short duration.

3Ken

If you were unaware, Kenisshort for shuriken, and that is exactly what this Daruma does, with Ken shooting out a giant shuriken that you’re able to keep in place to do big damage in the area it stalls in. This is another good choice for an early upgrade, making the shuriken bigger, therefore easier to aim.

When To Equip Ken

Ken is good for enemies that tend to stay in the same spot, since you can set it off and leave it there, dealing a good amount of damage. The only issue is that aiming the shuriken takes a little bit of focus that can be tricky to do during intense bosses.

2Pyro Kun

Pyro Kun is one of the earlier Daruma you will get for Bo, and it is a perfect early replacement for Chomper, since it is a lot more effective. Pyro Kun, as the name suggests, spits out fire in front of Bo for a set period. The range is perfect for hitting enemies in Bo’s standard range, making it a good fight for most encounters.

When To Equip Pyro Kun

Pyro Kun is a great choice to use when facing enemies that give you short chances to attack, since you can just activate the ability, and do what you were going to do anyway, without needing to worry about aiming or timing.

1Toge Chan

One of the easiest and most versatile Daruma to use in Bo: Path Of The Teal Lotus is Toge Chan. While the ability isn’t as flashy as some of the others, with a simple thorny Daruma halo surrounding Bo, the ability can deal masses of damage without any need for aiming.

When To Equip Toge Chan

There are few enemies or bosses that Toge Chan isn’t a good choice to use, since the range of the attack perfectly fits the range that you’ll be in when attacking enemies or bosses in Bo: Path Of The Teal Lotus. Just make sure to try and time the ability well, since it doesn’t last that long without an upgrade.
