Summary

Jujutsu Kaisentells the story of young Sorcerers as they battle against living Curses, trying to keep the secret world of Curses from spilling to the rest of humanity. There are many characters involved in this feud, from mere students to experienced Sorcerers that have godlike powers.

We do learn plenty of details about these characters, since their age and lineage tend to matter when discussing their sources of power, so if you wish to learn more about them, look no further. There are details for some living Curses as well, since they have become so sentient as to have personality and desires.

15Yuji Itadori

Sukuna’s Vessel

Yuji is the main character and the lens through which we learn about the Sorcerer’s world. He was just a normal high school student with no Cursed Energy (the power that lets you see and fight Curses), untilhe ate a Cursed Objectand became enrolled in all this mess.

Like a classic Shonnen protagonist, Yuji’s special abilities involve superhuman physique and durability, and being an extremely quick learner. If you want to see flashier abilities, you’ll have to look at the rest of the cast.

14Megumi Fushiguro

The Summoning Expert

Megumi is the first real Sorcerer we meet in the series, even though he is the same age as Yuji. He has been involved with the Cursed world ever since he was born, and works as a source of knowledge for anything Yuji (and the audience) might be wondering about.

He can control Cursed Spirits created specifically for Sorcerers, using them as his minions during battle. He can still hold his own, however, and his ability to manipulate shadows is a great trait to confuse his enemies, or simply an effective way to carry equipment.

It’s Hammer Time

Most Anime teams are composed of three characters, and Nobara Kugisaki fills the third spot as one of Jujutsu Kaisen’s main trio. She isn’t as deeply involved as Megumi in the inner workings of Jujutsu society, but she has known of this world since she was little, forming a nice bridge between Yuji and Megumi.

Her hammer and nails make for a rather unique weapon when dealing with Curses, letting her manipulate energy from afar as long as one of her nails makes it into her enemy.

12Satoru Gojo

The Strongest Sorcerer

Many aspects of the plot of Jujutsu Kaisen revolve around Satoru Gojo, since his power is so overwhelming that no one can stand up to him. Fortunately for the main characters, Gojo is one of the good guys, but the antagonists have many plans to remove Gojo from the picture.

Even though he is that powerful, Gojo has a mostly care-free personality, seemingly taking nothing seriously. He does, however, value the lives of his students dearly, and resents the Jujutsu community for always wanting to execute anyone they deem troublesome.

11Yuta Okkotsu

The First Protagonist

The movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0 tells the story of Yuta Okkotsu, a boy going through a similar experience as Yuji. His story was originally a test to see if manga readers would like to read about this world, and ever since the wild success of the anime, Yuta’s original story has been animated as a movie.

Nowadays, he is one of the strongest Sorcerers in the world, even though he is fairly young. Most of that strength is thanks to Rika, his Cursed Spirit, considered one of the most powerful entities in the entire series.

All we know of Rika is that she died when she was a child, being 11 years old. This means that she was born in the year 2000.

10Panda

The School’s Mascot

Panda is the living demonstration that Cursed Spirits can be reasoned with, although to be fair, he isn’t a normal spirit at all. He was created by the School’s principal, Masamichi Yaga, and harbors even more spirits within him.

He has nothing to do with the Panda animal; in fact, he started as a living stuffed animal. He can alter his shape thanks to the other spirits within him, becoming, for example, more like a gorilla when he needs a higher power output.

9Toge Inumaki

His Words Are Cursed

Toge Inumaki has an incredibly powerful Cursed Technique, letting him speak a command word and forcing that action on his opponents. This allows him to yell at Curses to blow up, and they simply explode.

He is constantly speaking nonsense as a way to protect the people around him. This is why he is always naming food, since it is the only way he has found to communicate.

jujutsu kaisen image showing Maki Zenin

8Maki Zenin

She Lacks Cursed Energy

Maki is one of the most interesting characters of Jujutsu High, since, even though she doesn’t have any Cursed Energy, she’s still able to defeat Curses left and right. This is thanks to her special glasses, a Cursed Object that lets her see the Curses around her.

Beyond that, she’s a highly skilled combatant and a master using all sorts of Cursed Weapons, like katanas and spears.

7Mai Zenin

The Gunslinger

Mai is Maki’s twin sister, and they both had a rough time growing up in the Zenin clan. While Mai has some form of Cursed Energy, she has very little of it, having to resort to tools not unlike her sister, to be able to fight Cursed Spirits.

Her weapon of choice is a revolver, since she can imbue just a little bit of energy into each bullet to do significant damage. She can even create bullets from Cursed Energy alone, but only one per day due to her limited pool of energy.

6Kasumi Miwa

A Dedicated Fighter

Not everyone gets a fancy technique, even though Cursed Energy flows through most of the cast. Kasumi Miwa is a student at the Kyoto Jujutsu High and, without any special powers like Cursed Speech, she has made up for it with training.

She might be an expert katana user, but sadly, she pales in ability when compared to the likes of Maki.
