Summary
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtreeadds two new Perfume Bottles to the game that can be found in the Land of Shadow—Lightning and Frenzyflame. You’ve probably heard of them since they arebusted.
Players have beaten the final boss in under 15 seconds by mixing lightning perfume bottles with rolling sparks, and Twitch streamer Bushy is evenone-shotting some of the hardest bosses—including Messmer—with these new weapons. But as it turns out, their absurd damage was a bug.

Perfumes were an issue because you’d cast rolling sparks and it’s supposed to be a line of explosions but if you aim it at the ground they all explode together dealing absolutely insane amounts of damage - @Tristanwelsh
“Fixed a bug that caused the Lightning Perfume Bottle and Frenzyflame Perfume Bottle weapons to deal double damage under certain circumstances,” the patch notes read. FromSoftware has also fixed a bug which caused the Rolling Sparks Skill to deal extra damage. If you’ve been stacking the Skill and Perfume Bottles to obliterate bosses, that strategy is a lot less effective now.
Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree Update 1.12.3 Makes Gaius A Bit Easier
This new patch also “Changed the placement of the bosses in the re-fight against the Golden Hippopotamus and Commander Gaius bosses to be in the same position as in the first fight.”
Gaius is that tough-as-nails boss you fight to the north of the map on horseback. Thinkthe Tree Sentinelsbut even harder.
What this means is that when you enter the fog, they won’t be so close, giving you a little bit more breathing room to quickly summon your Spirit Ashes and get your affairs in order before you inevitably get sent back to the last Site of Grace.
The patch is live right now, and you can read the full list of changes and bug fixeshere.
